  • APC stains my customers glass !

Noticed for a while that my customers glass becomes stained when I finish detailing with some near permanent stains that cant be removed with most glass cleaners
Investigated for a while, then found that APC was the reason behind that

When APC is applied to glass (mistakenly) and left to dry, it's impossible to remove it later

Any clues on how to solve this ?

Well, I have not had to deal with this, but what have you tried so far to remove the stains?

And why is the APC being used on the glass?

I tried using water, thinner, and IPA

APC is not used on glass
It happens unintentionally and leaves permanent stains

Hoping for a response from Michael Stoops about that

This stuff works awesome on windows. I use this with a dual action buffer. Amazing results.

I would look into trying one of the paint cleaners, like Ult. Compound, SwirlX, etc that you may have on hand. Use some smooth foam or something to apply.

We understand that accidents happen, but the only products that should ever be allowed to self dry on any surface are waxes/sealants and surface (ie, leather, vinyl, rubber) dressings, and then only on the surfaces they were designed for. In some cases letting a product self dry can lead to serious problems, chief among those is letting certain cleaners self dry on the clear plastic covering of the instrument cluster or on a navigation screen as these tend to be pretty delicate surfaces. It is very possible to do irreparable harm to these surfaces by allowing cleaners to self dry on them.

The very best way to avoid this mishaps, especially when doing interior work, is to always spray your cleaner onto an applicator/towel and then wipe the surface. This eliminates any chance of overspray onto surfaces you don't want the product on, and it prevents you from not noticing that overspray until it's dried. Even when there is virtually no fear of overspray onto another surface, like if you spray a leather cleaner onto the back rest of a seat, you still don't want to spray directly onto the surface as you could end up with a concentration of cleaning solution that could lead to spotting or streaking, even on the surface it was intended for. Always, always spray onto your applicator/towel and then wipe the surface.

To remove stubborn stains on glass, like the ones asalah currently is battling, try an abrasive paint cleaner such as Ultimate Compound, M105 or similar. Work it in with a clean terry cloth towel, but don't over use the product - no need to make a potential mess with it! Wipe off the residue when done, and repeat as needed to remove the offending stains. Follow with a light cleaning with an appropriate glass cleaner, but spray that glass cleaner onto your towel first!

I got stains on my glass with APC+ and I used ... don't laugh ... clay w/ stoner's invisible glass as a lube. No other combination worked for me.
