i have always used last touch for this reason, and recently learned it may not be the best product to view holograms etc due to its product attributes in terms of lubrication, etc. my question is, has meguairs taken advantage of needing a product to replace ipa in their lineup? i see that a couple other companies produce a product they claim as their replacement for ipa to serve the same purpose. i know it sounds silly, but you probably see with my posts that i am obsessed with using products from all the same manufacturer and professional product line--my personal choice meguiars detailer.

Re: does meguiars produce anything to be used like ipa?
We do not make anything that will strip the paint clean of any residual product the way an IPA wipedown would do. There are specialized products on the market that will do what an IPA wipedown will do, if you don't mind spending $1/ounce compared to just picking up some isopropyl alcohol at your local drugstore and diluting it yourself. You'll probably spend just pennies per ounce and not have to pay shipping costs. Don't take this wrong, though, as those specialized products do work very well. But do you really need to spend the extra money when there is a perfectly fine, and equally performing, product available for a fraction of the cost?Michael Stoops

yeah michael, my main thing is something i discussed with you last week. basically the possibility i may be still masking some swirls etc with compound by not using the proper product before waxing. in my case, last touch. i always assumed last touch was doing the job, but forgot about the constituents in the product that make it act almost as a wax and realized its not likely doing what i want in this case. ipa with distilled water will be my choice then.
