  • Synthetic sealant cure time

Although it's written on the product packaging that it can be wiped after around 15mins (like we do with normal waxing)
I noticed that after wiping the product, the paint is still very fragile

Finger prints would leave marks on the paint, and the minimum contact with the paint would leave a notable mark on the surface

    So, I'm wondering...
If I want to keep my customer's car at best state ever... For how long should I keep the car in my store after applying the sealant and before releasing it ?

Will that need to leave it overnight and release it next day ? (Customers wont like that)

Yes, you could have that overnight discussion with your customers. Sometimes when I do two coats, to insure coverage, the first coat is done at the end of the first day and right away the second after sitting overnight. The car is given to them after completing the second coat in the morning. I just give them instructions to not get the car soaking wet for a few hours.

If you are using Ultimate Wax, remember to put it on thin, if too thick this may cause your fingerprint problem. Also, the 12-24 hour cure time is the ideal, especially when two-coating. If one coating, you can give the car to your customers much sooner without worries.

While a synthetic sealant will dry in a matter of minutes, the cure time can be from a few hours to overnight, as you're seeing. We understand that telling your clients that you must keep their car overnight isn't always going to be acceptable, there isn't any real damage happening if they touch the surface prior to curing. You're probably better off just educating them on the process and maybe giving them a small bottle of quick detailer and a microfiber towel, and tell them that if they must touch the car, do so with those items.

          Re: Synthetic sealant cure time

          You can.

Though since the sealants tend to be more durable, two coats of the sealant would tend to be the most protection.
