  • Would these Synthetic products go well together?

Hey guys, I have a Black 2003 Audi A4, which the paint currently is in 5-6/10 condition. I have some #2 that I just purchased to fix this problem, and plan on using that until its gone with #7 then #26. I have been trying to do a lot of research into the new synthetic products and it seems like I could use this process of products. Help me out if i am wrong!

    1. Wash
    2. #205 Ultra Finishing Polish
    3. #21 Synthetic Sealant 2.0
    4. #135 Synthetic Spray Detailer

and after that just use #135 after every time i wash to keep the shine up.

I have a rotary buffer that I have been using for a while and like a ton! I have a cutting, polishing, and finishing foam pad for my it.

What RPM should I use for the #205 and #21? and Which pad (polishing or finishing) would go better with #205?

    Thanks for the help!

    I would do the following:

Dawn or Decon Wash (Iron Cut)
    Clay
    205 with a polishing pad
21 with a finishing pad (FYI NXT 2.0 and the new Ultimate Liquid Wax are also good choices and the latest tech.)
135 for the final wipe down

After that, you could use 135 to aid in the drying process after a wash and Ultimate Spray Wax once a month to keep up the protection.

Can't help with the rotary speed bc I use a DA, but I would post the make, model and amount of settings so others can give you a more informative response.

You could use M205 with different speeds: starting at 900-1000 rpm for maximum gloss paint jewelling (finishing buffing pad) going up to 1200-1400 rpm for swirl removal (polishing pad). If M205 doesn't give you enough cut then you need to step up to products like M83, M86 or even M105 for full defect removal.

I like wax application better using dual action polishers than rotary buffers. If you don't have a D/A polisher you could apply M21 2.0 or M26 by hand as well.

M135 Synthetic Spray Detailer (for light dust removal) and Ultimate Quik Wax (after each car wash) are great maintenance products after detailing.

I have an off brand 0-3000rpm variable speed rotary.

Is there any other rotary safe synthetics you might recommend instead? Any synthetics on the detailed line i should be considering?

My favorite products (rotary buffer use):

Compound - M105 Ultra Cut Compound (The King of Compounds)
Cleaner/ Polish - M205 Ultra Finishing Polish (best finishing polish, hands down, incredible depth)
Cleaner/ Wax (All in One) - D151 Paint Reconditioning Cream

Here's the full list of rotary buffer products:

If you have some light defects to remove you can run M205 on a polishing pad at 1200~1400 rpm and remove a surprising amount. For a final finishing step M205 works wonders with a finishing pad at 1000 rpm or even a bit less. Depending on the overall condition of the paint, use those one or both of those processes with M205, stepping up to something a bit more aggressive for more severe defects. Of course, all of this assumes that you've clayed prior to this process, if claying is called for.

M21 application via rotary should be with a foam finishing pad at the slowest speed you can achieve with your buffer.

Should I consider d151 over m21? And even possibly over normal use of m205?

Re: Would these Synthetic products go well together?

D151 is more of an all in one type product so it would, essentially, serve the purpose of both M205 and M21. Depending on your ultimate goals, however, it may not be what your looking for since it's not going give quite the same clarity and gloss of M205, nor the overall protection and durability of M21.

With 205 being my previous step to 21, how will the wetness look compare to 7?

Re: Would these Synthetic products go well together?

M205 still has plenty of polishing oils in it, and on a clear coat it's going to impart a lot more clarity to the finish than M07 will. Wetness is most likely going to be a toss up here but the clarity edge will definitely go to M205. We have seen people actually apply M07 after M205 in an attempt to get that little extra something out of the paint, but whether that's a process that works for you or not is up to you.
