  • What steps for best results?

I have a question about what action to do to get the best results possible.
My car is in pretty good shape, so I've been thinking about that first car polish with # 205, then use a sealant that # 21 and finally top it off with # 26th

    Reflections / opinions on that?
    Anyone recommend any other way?

    Sincerely /Freddy

It would be good to add in a claying step before the #205.

Mixing waxes is up to you, just have to see what you think.

First off, welcome to MOL, Freddy!!

M205 is pretty fantastic stuff, but it's also fairly mild. Depending on what your goals are, the current condition of the car, how hard the paint is, and how you're working - by hand, DA or rotary buffer - it may or may not be sufficient to get you where you want to be. Can you give us a bit more information on your process and what car you're working on?

        Thanks for quick response
I thought about using a DA machine, the car is a black BMW M3 2003 who have taken care of, the paintwork is in good condition.

I have been recommend to use the products from your professional line instead of the consumer line by a professional polisher.

Like Mike said, it really depends on the swirls of your car. M205 is indeed amazing stuff but you can get Ultimate Polish and it will work just as well. First try using M205 or Ultimate Polish on a small test spot first and see if it removes the swirls to your liking. If it doesn't then you need to step it up to something like Ultimate Compound. This product is great and it removes heavy defects like nobody's business. Just because it's a consumer product doesn't mean it's an inferior product compared to the professional products. More than likely, if you have to use UC then it should remove the majority, if not all the swirls in your paint. I would follow it up with M205 or UP afterwards to clean up the haze (if there's any) left by the compounding stage or just add gloss and clarity to your paint.

And like Murr said, don't forget to clay your car using the Smooth Surface Clay kit too!

Please post pics of your ride when you're finished!

Freddy - do you even have swirls in your paint? (You mentioned the paint was in good condition). What colour is it?

M205 may well be enough but we need a bit more info about the defects in your paint and what you're trying to achieve.

You said your car is 2003? take it out in the sun and look for swirls. Black 2003 I would bet there are swirls and as far as Professional product vs consumer product I have no problem using Ultimate Compound followed up by Ultimate polish and topped of with Ultimate Liquid wax. It worked great for me on Black car.

Re: What steps for best results?

Like Mark said, I'd be surprised if there were no swirls.

But if there aren't, and/or you can live with what's there, you could keep it as simple as:

                    Clay
                    M205
                    M21
M26 (since that's what you mentioned in your first post).
