  • M83 or m105 + polishing pad ???

I am not doing business, but maintaining few cars for my family.

Cars are well maintained in most cases, but I do have some cases that M205 is not enough to remove defect, but M105 seems too strong for it. I thought as SMAT product, M105 can be used as medium cutting polish when used with polishing pad. yeah?? Or, should I get M83?

I have UC for DA, but I need one for rotary. Thanks.

D151 Paint Reconditioning Cream would be a between product as well (SMAT member) but it's all in one type liquid (cleaner/ polish/ wax). It can be used with all types of applications: hand, orbital, D/A, rotary.

We echo this question because we've corrected so many different cars in so many different states of neglect with this combo, and it's a very, very rare case where we can not achieve excellent results.

M105 is our most aggressive product and, when used on a rotary with a wool pad, can pull out 1000 grit sanding marks. Do you really need to get that aggressive? From the sounds of it, we'd be very confident in UC's ability to get the job done. If you need a step up from UC/foam pad you might want to look into the DA Microfiber Correction System. It can yield near rotary like cut with all the benefits of a DA - no sling, high safety margin, no dust, easy application/removal.

Yes and no. While some people have been successful doing so, we don't recommend it as the best, easiest, or most efficient way to do it. A lot depends on the age and hardness of the paint, how efficiently the sanding was done - was it by hand, or with a DA sander (DA sanding being quite a bit less aggressive than hand sanding), etc. We'd call it hit and miss at 1000 grit and would recommend either refining your sanding marks down to 2000 grit or finer, or stepping up to a rotary. In fact, we'd recommend refining the sanding marks down to a finer level even if you step up to a rotary. Sanding, when done properly, can be far less invasive to the paint than compounding can be, and the more refined the sanding marks the faster they buff out.
