  • Compare cut between Microfiber system and UC with Meguiars Soft Buff Polishing pad

Specifically, how many times can you utilize the Microfiber kit on 5" pad for factory paint. If I remember correctly, Mike Stoops had mentioned before that with UC and Yellow polishing pad, you could safely polish a car numerous times over it's life without too many worries about thinning the clear. with the Microfiber cutting as quickly as it does, it this more akin to a Rotary? I have used the Microfiber kit on both my daily drivers, and need to do a little more work on the nose/front bumper of my black Ford Focus. Would I be better off to use my UC by hand, or with a 4" polishing pad, or ok to use the Microfiber kit?

It's all but impossible to tell you how many times you can use any product or combination of products before running into problems as there as so many variables. While the DAMF system can be quite a bit more aggressive than more traditional foam pads and commonly used liquids, it doesn't have to be so aggressive that you can't use it multiple times on the same vehicle. But since it can be so aggressive, if you just have fine swirls you may not need the power of this system. If you've already used it on a vehicle but just feel that you need an additional pass on some areas, then that shouldn't be a problem at all.

We've seen people ask about doing heavy correction every three months or so, and they're concerned about removing too much paint over time. That always prompts us to ask why they keep having heavy swirls so often. We'd rather see people change their washing and drying habits to minimize the introduction of swirls rather than just keep compounding them out several times per year.

      Mike,

Thanks for the reply. Living in the northeast, the front end/bumper looks like it has a case of road rash. When I corrected the car with the DAMF, I really didn't do much of anything with the front bumper. I also figure the CC is probably more thin on the bumper than the body. I just don't want to be too agressive with it.
