  • Synthetic sealant 2.0, and drying time over ULW.

I love synthetic sealant 2.0, as well as NXTGen 2.0. They seem to be very user friendly, and I use them a lot! However, I decided to recently use some Ultimate Liquid Wax in the past few months. I did notice it leaves an amazing deep gloss, and great shine and water beading...however, I live and work in the Ohio Vally. Its devastatingly humid here. I have noticed that even when I use a very light film of the wax, it still takes sometimes several hours to dry well enough to not strain to remove some streaking from it. I get streaking rarely with Synthetic sealant, and even in my humidity usually only takes max 2 hours to dry well enough to remove easily. Am I doing something wrong, such as applying too heavily with the liquid wax? or do you think its simply the factor of my humidity here. For instance, I left ULW on a Navigator last night at the shop, came in nearly 12 hours later, and still had a slightly streaky residue. Should I leave well enough alone since Ive had such good luck with synthetic sealant and just continue to use it? To give you an idea of the humidity here, on a day when it might be 87, heat index can read 103+, easily. Its getting better, but the last couple months were murder.

With Ultimate Liquid Wax you can only let it sit for a few minutes. While it doesn't seem correct, it is. And if there is streaking try using some Ultimate Quik Detailer or Ultimate Quik Wax but it should get rid of the streaking.

You might want to try the paste version of Ultimate wax.

paste by hand isnt really an option due to time i have available. I use it on about 5-9 cars per week that are usually in for a full detail. i did a black lexus yesterday and definitely ran into streaking with it using ULW. last touch will help remove it, but it is a big strain over when i use synthetic sealant. i think i may just stick with the synthetic since it has worked so well for me. i understand that ULW has awesome endurance and beading, but i have seen a few cons in my area due to humidity, at least i believe. sometimes, even if ive removed all streaking, certain dots will appear, as if tire gel has gotten on the paint but its not. its like the wax wants to re-liquify and show on the paint. doesnt happen all the time, but ive probably seen it at least five times in the past few months. it wipes right off, but still annoying.

Given the level of humidity in your area and the time constraints you're under with client vehicles, you may be better off staying with M21/NXT. In fact, you may find M20 to be an even better choice; it's a polymer/carnauba blend with emphasis on the polymer, has light cleaning ability but still looks great as an LSP applied with a finishing pad via DA, and it still has great longevity, water beading and a great shine.

We're sure there's still room in your arsenal for Ultimate Wax, but maybe just not as a daily go to wax. If you get a chance to try the paste version, which can easily be applied via DA using a 4" pad, you'll probably find it dries very quickly, still wipes off very easily, and isn't nearly as susceptible to streaking issues. It can, however, stain plastic and vinyl trim, whereas the liquid version won't.

Thanks so much for the answers guys. Yeah I think for daily use ill continue with synthetic sealant 2.0 and for a rarity ill use liquid wax. I may eventually try the paste version, but I've been very pleased with ss2.0 so far. Why mess with a good thing, right?
