  • What size pads?

I have a 6" backing plate. What size Megs 2.0 pads suit it?

I was thinking the 7" pads.

Soft Buff 2.0 7" pads should be used with W68DA backing plate for maximum performance as they have recessed backing.

6.5" pads work best with W67DA backing plates, and 4" spot buffing pads with S3BP.

Is your backing plate made by Meguiar's or is it a different brand?

I have the standard 6" backing plate on a Makita BO6040.

      The W68DA is 5.75 inch.

What's the best Megs 2.0 pad size for a 6" BP?

        Re: What size pads?

Makita BO6040 is a DA with forced rotation. Very good tool.

6.5" pads will leave you very small margin for errors/ edge buffing.
7" pads may not fit so well into that backing plate.

Is that backing plate removable or is it permanently attached to the tool?

          Yes, it's an excellent tool.

I don't think the 6.5 pads will fit. I thought the 7" pads would be ideal.

          Doesn't any Megs 2.0 pads fit a 6" BP?

            Re: What size pads?

Mike Stoops always recommends to everybody to get W68DA BP and 7" Soft Buff 2.0 pads but that's for DAs with standard thread.

Give it a shot (7" pads) as they should fit because there's still room when attached to 5.75" BP.
