  • D/A microfiber system - first experience

Worked on my wife's 10-year old volvo yesterday using the DA microfiber system for the first time. I found it faster than using the foam pads even including time spent using the pad cleaner. I used two pads, switching after the first pad became too soaked with D300. I used the "5" setting most of the time, but also tried the "6" setting for a few passes. Anyone else have the same experience? I am using the original DAPC(meguiars brand). Using the highest speed for a few passes made a significant difference.

Finally I applied the wax using the pads provided on the "4" setting. Easy on; easy off. Threw all the pads in the washer after I was done.

Overall I found the system to be faster and produce better results! Thanks Meguiars!!

Nice! They really do work quicker than foam pads.

Howeverm be careful pushing the speed. Some of the testers have commented that at speed 6 the pads become unstable and are liable to tear up. They are only meant to be used at speed 4 for D300/Cutting Pad and speed 3 D301/Finishing Pad.

I will continue to ask this question......how did you like the smell of D301?!?!?!
    Smells like actual blueberries!

Glad to hear you liked it!

Yes, I liked the smell. As far as speed, I found that the slower speed didn't seem to produce any improvement. Also found with any pressure the pad stopped turning. Only used the high speed for 15-30 seconds.

1st time user yesterday! Great system! Did my motorcycle and the hood of car as a tester. Hood had some spiderwebbing that I really never removed with the foam pad. Had surbufs to try but never did. The D300 and D301 worked great. Like the smell of D301. D300 cleans up real nice in the pad. Of course D301 stays in the pad a bit but washed it the best I could and it's ready to go again. Cleaning the pad after each panel is a breeze. You don't need an air compressor to clean. Fibers pop up nicely again and ready to go. I had to quit because I was seeing yellow spots after checking my work so often with the sun. I couldn't keep my eyes off of the results! Thanks Meguiar's!

It is recommended that 4800 OPM's be used for the MF cutting disc/D300 and 3800 OPM's for the MF finishing disc.

Do you know what OPM's you used?

Meguiars came out with their own pad conditioning brush that works well.

There is a Meguiars pad washer but that's a bit pricey for the average enthusiast.

Then there is the compressed air methoed.

Finally, there is the terry towel method which is what I have used. Fold the terry towel into a small square and use that to brush the microfiber on the pad while the machine is on. This will fluff up the fibers again and you'll be ready to go.

I use the "Bug Sponge" method. With the pad spinning hold the dry bug sponge to the pad surface.
