  • Help with products

Hello all, new to the forum. I have white truck-'05 that has been somewhat neglected. Waxed prob once a year with megs cleaner paste wax. Just noticed the other day some oxidation developing on l/r door and tailgate where it faces the sun all day. I used to be big into maintenance years ago when I had more time on my hands. I have a black car that I would use #6 then #7 then # 26. Applied with a rotary-always produced beutiful results. Been out of the scene for 6-7 years and decided I needed to take car of my investments, in part because we just bought a new red vehicle. I was looking for a product to hold up longer than the 26 so I purchased #'s 20 and 21. I have wool, yellow and black foam pads on a rotary. Megs products 3,6,7,20,21,26... Any recommendations with what I have, where to start with the white 05, and then what products I should apply to the red 11 now...Or should I invest in new products? I have checked what I have and it all appears to still be good.

    Welcome to MOL!

First off, do you have any pictures of the vehicle? An 05 could have 6 years of scratches or 6 years of relatively good maintenance and the products for each scenario will vary.

However, just as a quick detail on the 05 I would go with a good claying, M06 Cleaner/Wax on a yellow polishing pad which will do wonders to clean the paint. I would then follow that up with either M21 Synthetic Sealant or Ultimate Wax for added protection.

Any more information on what you want to accomplish? Do you just want it to be shiny or are you looking to remove swirls, etc.?

Thank you for the reply, The paint is in decent shape all things considered. There are some light swirls in it, but not bad at all, thats why I dont want to go crazy. The oxidation is limited to a couple areas that get tortured by the sun. I was anticipating the answer of 6 on yellow but not sure. I think what I will do is the tailgate first and see what happens...

Do you think going with cleaner wax followed with show car glaze and #21 sealant is overkill. Should I top it with #26? I have always loved what the #7 does for paint. But Im used to that pon a black car...
