  • Ordered the new MF system

Finally ordered it off ADS, along with many other things.

Went with the starter kit and chose the 6" disc & backing plate and picked up the disc brush while I was at it.

I am down to my PC7424XP and both my G110s are dead so I hope it works well with the PC.

Should be here Friday in time for a Cadillac SRX on Saturday.

Looking forward to trying it out even though I am late to the party.

That's gonna be a nice addition to your detailing arsenal, Nick.

    You'll like this System.

Nick, you will love it. I'm curious as to why you bought the 6" instead of the 5" though.

I think the 5" works perfect with the DA.

        Good Stuff Nick!

One thing I wanted to check is that did you mean to order the 6" discs? Those are normally meant for pneumatic sanders and the flex, where as the 5" discs are meant for most DA's.

        • DMC5/DMF5 pads: DA buffers such as Meguiar's G110v2, G110, G100, Porter Cable 7424, 7336, 7424XP, Griot's Garage 6"
        • DMC6/DMF6 pads: Pneumatic DA buffers, Flex 3401, Festool, etc

Did you order the 6" backing plate as well?

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

        I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
        Remove swirls my friends.

I did order the 6" backing plate as well.

Do you think I will have problems?

Re: Ordered the new MF system

I too ordered the new system to work on a black Cadillac SRX full of swirls. I am really wondering how hard the clear is, but all the reviews boast that this system loves hard clear coat. I can't wait!!!!

I guess I should be fine as I have the W67DA and W68DA plates.

I will just have to return the 6" backing plate and maybe order some 5" pads.

Are the 6" pads any different than the 5" ones? other than size obviously.

I have no first hand experience with it, however I have heard that the system does not seem to like the flex as much as a traditional DA. I don't know if this is due to pad/backing plate size or the higher opm's or the forced rotation.

No difference except size. I'd call Rick up and leave a message and see if you can change out your pads for the 5" pads and drop the backing plate from your order. He's a great guy to work with and I'm sure he would have no issue with doing this.

Re: Ordered the new MF system

Mike Stoops said that 6" MF System still can be used with DA polishers.

6" discs are less aggressive so on more delicate paints will finish better (less haze or no haze) than 5" discs. Also MF discs go nicely with other SMAT products.

But for maximum correction power 5" discs with W67DA backing plate are the best with DA machines.

It's up to you, Nick. I have both sets: 5" and 6" (with S6BP).

I am talking about the G110v1, not v2.

I polished over 120 vehicles and three boats with the first one and replaced the brushes at one point. It died a few months ago.

The second one lasted twenty vehicles or so and wont go faster than around speed 3 and bogs down under light pressure.

My PCXP has been used probably 70-80 times and is in good shape.
