  • Questions about the new D300/D301

    HI
I am really existed about trying this system out. I think it will allow me to actually start correction jobs.
Anyway, I have watched a lot of videos about this system, and the official video with Mike from Autogeek, mentioned the system is intended for OEM Factory paint NOT fresh paint. However can this system be used on REPAINTED vehicles, painted a year or more?
If not, no prob, I have found that the clear is softer on repaints, depending on where they were painted. Usually UC, SwirlX, PRC(D151) removes most if not all swirls, at least on some of the cars I have done.
I polished a beautiful Red Lexus SC the hood was repainted, I noticed after a few passes of UC, it looked 100% corrected, I was blown away, I thought Toyota clear was hard (like my Avalon). However the rest of the car was much more difficult to rid of swirls.

Re: Questions about the new D300/D301

A lot of people have been using the MF DA system on repainted cars with good results. Nick chapman even says that he's used it on repaints but that it doesn't always work on repainted vehicles. Meguiars would recommend this system for OEM finishes only because they couldn't guarantee results on repaints frequently enough. Any detailer knows that each paint is different so the best option would be to do a test spot to see if the system works on the finished surface wether repainted or OEM.

I think it depends on the paint. On some resprayed cars D300 may be too aggressive.

In Michael Stoop's thread "Using DA Microfiber Correction System" the London Taxi has been repainted and the System finished the paint nicely after D301 removed haze left by D300.

Excellent, I thought so, just wanted some reassurance.

While results will always vary, even on factory applied/cured paint, once you start talking about aftermarket paint the variables increase dramatically. But as others have pointed out, we've actually seen some very good results on resprays, so by all means give it a go. Worst case scenario is you end up using a different product combo instead.

I got better correction on repainted fender on my dad's Pilot than on the factory portions. The Finishing Wax corrected more on the repaint than the factory paint.
