Re: Meguiar's *NEW* Microfiber DA Pads!!!!

Getting very excited now. Tim, by any chance have you had a chance to use the new pads on a Flex 3401? I'd like to know and am sure other Flex owners would like know how the pads work using the 5.5" backing plate, and of course Flex is releasing a 4 3/8 backing plate. Any thoughts on this?

Have you tried D151 yet with the pads to see if it performs with that as well since it's supposed to be SMAT as well and it has wax in it too?

      Thanks!

Tim can you answer this when you get the chance?

      Thanks!

Yes, I did try the D151 and it worked very very well. The only problem is that it tended to dust a lot more than with the new D300 and D301. The D300 compund is very thick, just like D151. But unlike the D151, the D300 does not dust and has a real long working/buffing time.

        I hope that helps!

Sorry, I do not own a Flex.

I wonder if anyone has tried Optimum Poli-Seal with these as a one-stepper. Since others as well as Tim are experimenting with difference polishes it can't hurt to try. Can't wait to get mine in to see.

Tim, have you tried cleaning the pads in the washing machine, yet? I believe Michael Stoops said the new MF pads are machine washable. I was just wondering how well they clean up in the washing machine after a detail.

                  Hey Brian,

I just washed them by hand. Call me a chicken, but since I only have the one set, I will wait until I have more of them before I throw them into the washing machine!

I was re-reading this thread. Nicely done Tim.

Interesting that you used M86 to begin your "testing out of the box" since M86 was also used in early development work of the microfiber disc (before the D300 was developed.)

M86 and D151 are very similar in technology, with the exception of D151 having protective properties. The defect removal should be similar with the Microfiber Cutting Disc.

I enjoyed reading your post again. I'm going to go re-read the Part #2 again now!

Well....I was keeping the liquids for a seperate review, but for a sneak peak, here is the results of the New D300 and D301....

                      Tell me what you think...

Started with this...it was a ROUGH winter with a lot of snow and ice...

And after using the New System D300 and D301 on the the New MF DA Pads, I was able to get this.... (I topped it with M21 V2)

                      Looks pretty good to me!

                      Tim

great resutls. i have heard people talk about a bonding issue if trying to top D301 with anything. did you notice anything when you tooped it with M21? alot of people that was gonna use wax or sealant did not use D301 but instead went to M205

We're curious about this too - can you link to a discussion about this for us please? D301 is a hybrid carnauba/synthetic blend and really shouldn't cause any sort of bonding issues for much of anything.

Tim topped D301 with M21 2.0 and reported no problems.

I used UW Paste and had no issues either.
