  • HyperDressing issues.

I've been using HD 1:1 on my tires.

They are Continental ExtremeContact DW's for reference. (Smooth Sidewall)

After about 50 miles, the dressing on the front tires has worn off. It has not slung off, as the HD was dry to the touch.

    The rear tires are fine.

I also have Silicone-Free Dressing. Should I try that, or is it something I'm doing?

You can try something else, no reason not to.

But HD is not the most durable dressing.

You can make sure you get the most possible out of it by cleaning the tire well. I like to use APC and a brush for cleaning.

Yeah, I've done that. It's just the front two tires.

I dressed them after a thorough wash today.

Is it possible that due to the shape and size of the tires that when you make turns and the wheel tilts you're essentially wearing/burning the dressing off? Just a thought

Not really, I don't drive it very hard.

I'm thinking of trying the new Endurance Trigger.

Hyper dressing is a great product but was designed for high volume shops, detail shops who are cranking out hundreds of cars per week or month. Being a water based dressing it has its benefits, diluteable (sp?) and having great gloss, however won't last as long as a solvent base dressing.

Our Endurance brand is designed to last weeks not days and is a solvent based dressing so you will get much more durability out of Endurance vs Hyper dressing.

Interesting that you're seeing this on the front tires while the rear tires are still fine.

Seeing the VW in your avatar, and knowing that German cars are notorious for throwing tons of brake dust, that's likely to be part of your issue. Obviously something has to be going on with the fronts that is not happening with the rears, and you've likely noticed that your front wheels get much dirtier than your rear wheels do. That's due to the front brakes handling the vast majority of the stopping of a vehicle, and therefore releasing more brake dust than the rears.

Sorry for the delay in posting.

I actually notice the rears dusting more than the front. The was the EBD system is set up on the newer GTI's, when first applying the brake, the rears have more bias to control dive.

I have tried other dressings, too. Same issue. It's weird, haha.

Dont know if it helps or not, but i use HD on the interior and silicone free dressing on the tires. Its not the best shine for the tires, but it looks ok i think. The turtle wax in the green aresol can is the best i've used. Cant remember the name of it but they sell it just about anywhere.

This might be a silly thought but could it be that the front tires are somehow flexing a bit more than the rear tires thus possibly soaking up the hyper dressing quicker? Not sure if that's even possible but just a thought.
