    Shampoo Plus in the Gilmour.....this foam is _ _ _ _!!

    this foam is SIIIIICK in the Gilmour Foam Gun!!!
    Just got my gallon of this as it was only $14 and also splurged on 32oz of DP Extreme Foam and BY FAR the first test of ShampooPlus with 3oz of soap and 8oz of water on the E setting was reTHICKULOUS foam!
    Now for the DP Extreme .... well definitely not what the pics taught and as it is claimed that 2oz with 6-8oz of water will do the trick .... it didnt.
    I didnt mention that 4oz of GoldClass soap and 8oz of water in the Gilmour produced very good foamy results as well!
    Now what to do with the gallon of ONR!

    Super Soap foams better than Shampoo Plus IMO.

    The only soap that foams poorly IMO is Ultimate Wash and Wax.

    I tend to do a mix of Shampoo Plus and Super Soap.

    For the past couple days I have been adding an oz or two of ONR for the heck of it.

    Heres a few of my foaming pics.

      Thanks Nick, I wonder if that fact that I am running soft water out of it has improved results ....? Next on the list is SUPER SOAP!
      im guessing you run a bit more that 3oz too huh?

        I tend to do the math and try to keep my dilution ratio around the 128:1 Meguiars recommends for regular use. So far so good it seems, but not going to get 'shaving cream foam' from it.

          Yes, I use up to seven sometimes.

          I like using the foam gun so it does not matter to me.

              yeah it seriously makes washing "fun" and when I do maintenance washes for clients and hook up to there water they see the foam bath it totally justifies my so called "SPA SERVICES" I sell....

              MURR - i think ive seen you comment about the 128:1 ratio ... new subject now

              Does mixing Megs soaps cause a stripping effect on wax?

              Ive read Chemical Guys Wash N Gloss (that is a fabulous soap) when used fruitfully will actually strip wax and can be used as a paint prep soap .... Are any of the megs soaps that strong?

                I believe that mixing soap too strong can degrade or strip the wax, whether it be Meguiar's or Chemical Guys. It is Chemical Guys Citrus Wash Clear that is meant to strip wax. That is a very very concentrated soap and the directions have you mix a stronger solution to strip wax, but if mixed properly (not as strong) it can also be used as just a regular car wash liquid. With this in mind, if you mix a Meguiar's soap stronger than you suggested, it can and and may strip wax. They put the ratio on there for a reason and the soap was developed by Meguiar's Chemists to perform optimally at that ratio.


                I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.
                I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
                Remove swirls my friends.

                  Thanks Andrew .... It sounds like i'm safe with the 3oz and Nick might be flirting with stripping the wax?? But as he usually follows up with a sealant of some sort I guess its OK for him considering he usually does full details ....

                  I wonder at the high concentrations (7oz) of soap used exactly how much wax (on a one month old wax job) is really being removed ....? Anyone? 10, 20, 50% ?
