Numbers 80 and 7 redundant?

Greetings from a newly registered member, though I've been browsing MOL almost from the beginning. Am about to do the full monty to my Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd, Very dark maroon/purple. Paint is in good shape with usual swirls and what appear to be scuffs on the leading edge of the hood. Was professionally detailed 8 months ago, just waxed since. Plan is to wash, clay, ScratchX, #80, #7, Gold Class paste x 2, all by hand. 2 questions: After using #80, am I just duplicating effort with #7? Will GC remove part of #80 /#7, reducing the wet look? Comments are very much appreciated. Thanks!

For the most part, "Yes". The #80 Speed Glaze contains a high content of rich polishing oils like the #7 Show Car Glaze. They are very different products in that one is a cleaner/polish, (can remove light defects) and the other is a pure polish, (completely non-abrasive), the end-result will be an optically clear, rich looking high gloss finish.

Gold Class Wax is a polish/wax, this means not only does it contain a blend of protective ingredients like polymers, silicones, resins and Carnauba wax, it also, like our polishes, contains Meguiar's trade secret polishing oils which enable it to create deep, dark reflective results on medium to dark colored paint.

Applying anything over anything will have a tendency to loosen and remove, (or add to), what's sitting on the surface, but not so much what you have effectively pushed below the surface. This really isn't a concern. Plus, the polishing oils in the Gold Class Wax are going to maintain the beauty results you have achieved with the #80 and/or the #7 Show Car Glaze as Meguiar's products are all compatible with one another in this regard.

Hey,

While both offer similarities, #80 is quite a unique product. However, #7 is a pure polish that contains more of the TS Oils. I have and still do use #81 Hand Polish or #7 after using #80, especially on dark colors. The improvement may be very slight, but it is worth it to me.

Yes, it's just a matter of personal preference. However, I prefer the "polymer" look of #80 especially if applied by hand. Looks like a balance of #20. Topping it with #26 has been my route currently.
