  • Good daily used polish/cleaner?

What is a good daily-use polish cleaner that is clear-coat safe in daily use on the same car?

I am just a hobbyist, but I got few cars in my family, that I would like to keep it well maintained. One of my business car is always parked outside day and night, so I am going to clean it up with clay and M105/205, and wax with NXT. After that, I am planning on washing/polishing/waxing it every month. So I need suggestion on good, and cost-effect, stuff for my monthly maintenance task.

For car wash, I am thinking about GC, D110, and D111. D110 is pretty attractive to me with its 400:1 dilute rate. It seems like a very cost-effect product, but not sure about the performance. Others have many good comment that I have heard.

For polishing, I want it to be able to clean the fresh water marks right after car wash, and be able to use it on the same car every month without worry about clear coat damage. I have tried M9 with good result; I haven't try my M80 at home, which I heard it has no cleaner like M9 does. What would you suggest? I am open for different products, as long as it can be used on rotary buffer.

For wax, I really love NXT 2.0, but it sure is a bit costly for such frequently use. how about D150? How well is the longevity in protection???

I am also thinking about using cleaner wax, such as M6 or M66. I have tried A12, and it doesn't clean the fresh water spots like M9 does, so I am not sure if both M6 or M66 will clean as good as M9. Also, how well is the protection and longevity in the wax part of it? I am never a big fan of AIO product, but it sure will be nice to complete my task in a single step, as long as the wax can provide good protection and longevity.

    Thanks for the advice!!

You may find you get longer life out of it if you wash regularly, and use Ultimate Quick Wax after. Or at least the Wash and Wax used often.

Hyper Wash isnt bad.... Gold Class and the M62 Shampoo and Conditioner are more top of the line, and some people really like Shampoo Plus.

Hmm.. needing a rotary buffer every month is a bit much, and really takes away the 'mildness' of the products you are looking at.

Using a cleaner/wax followed by the Nxt is popular, for a quicker 2 step detail. A12 is very mild, ColorX-#66 would be stronger.

Hand polish? What is a good choice that has volume size package?

Is M66 a good monthly used product with rotary buffer? Or hand? Using M66 as AIO? Will it last well without NXT followed after it?

I would use Colorx once a month if that was the only wax you were using. If you top it with NXT 2.0 I would re-Colorx every other month or every 3 months.

          Re: Good daily used polish/cleaner?

I compliment you on the care that you give to your vehicles.

May I ask you about the water spots. You state that you need something to remove water spots after every wash. Are you referring to spotting that has occurred between washing or to spotting left after you have washed and dried your car? If the latter, then may I suggest that you wipe the car down after drying with Ultimate Quik Detailer, Quik Detailer, or Last Touch (Last Touch would be the most economical). If the former, then you might either continue with M09, with which you have evidently had great success, or try one of Meguiar's cleaner waxes (e.g., ColorX, M66, or M20).

As far as protectants, if you like NXT, then I suggest that you continue to use it. Don't scrimp just to save a few pennies. Meguiar's has many times stated that NXT provides the best protection of all of its waxes. M21 is the professional version of NXT and is available in 64 oz. jugs. Auto Detailing Solutions sells the 64 oz jug for $40, which makes it significantly more economical than the 16 oz consumer bottle of NXT.

My black S2K is sensitive to water spotting. I have recently found myself quick detailing the car more frequently than I used to. I do not like touching it so frequently, but I finally concluded that I'd rather risk swirling than spotting. I have also had good luck with M20 cleaning up my paint fairly well, including recent water spotting. M20 is also approved for rotary application.

I agree with using either 20 or 66 for monthly clean-ups. If, every month, you're after water spots than definitely 66. Of course, we're talking about paint that's already been properly detailed.

As far as concern goes for the protection "lasting", if this is going to be done on a monthly basis then you won't have to worry about what wax lasts the longest.

You'll have the nicest set of vehicles on the block.

#20 certainly has some cleaning abiity to it, and could be a good choice.

My local jobber has no M66 in stock at all, so I have to get it online. How about D151 PAINT CONDITIONING CREAM? I have heard people saying it is a good AIO product ( voted the most popular ). How's the mildness to the paint for monthly use on same car???

After research, I am looking at 3 different ways to manage my monthly cleaning plan :

                M9 + D150
                M66
                D151

Which way you guys think the best to me??

Dont really hear a lot about D150 here.

D151 will be the strongest cleaner/wax, may be overkill every month.

Stan, here is the ranking of Meguiar's cleaner polishes, from least aggressive to most aggressive:

                    Cleaner Wax
                    M20 Polymer Sealant
                    ColorX
                    M06
                    M66
                    D151

You pays your money and takes your chances.

If it were my car, I'd give M20 or ColorX a try. Given how conscientious you are in the care of your vehicle, it's hard for me to believe that you need a stronger product than ColorX. As already stated, I am becoming a big fan of M20--easy to apply and decent cleaning power.

Thanks for the nice line-up! It has made pretty my research more simple now.

Considering my car is driven every day, and parked outside every single day at 24hours a day. It seems M20 should have good wax that I need for protection till next wash & re-wax. But how about its cleaning power on paint that is exposed to weather 24/7?

How long will a 64oz bottle last me if I wax my car every month? Rotary buffer with finishing pad ok to use with it?

Stan, I think you'll be happy with M20, but you're just going to have to try the product. You can order the 16 oz bottle and try it out, and if you like it, you can then invest in the larger 64 oz. jug. And yes, you can apply M20 with your rotary. My guess is that you're going to be very happy with M20, but if you don't like it, just remember that Meguiar's offers a 100% customer satisfaction guarantee. So get yourself a bottle. If you don't like it, return it to the company and get your money back.

Sounds good! I will give it a try.

I found a good deal of M20 64oz on Amazon, so I will order it tomorrow.

Just out of curiousity ......... Will M20 clean old dry water spots underhood? What have you encountered that M20 can't clean, and then which product you move up to for better cleaning??

How often to do usually wash your car? Just curious because you make it sound like you only wash once a month. Many of us have daily drivers that sit outside 24/7 and no member I've come across has had the need to repolish(with a rotary at that)/wax every month because of water spotting.

You should save yourself the hassle and just wash your car more frequently (assuming you don't already wash it once a week) and use a spray wax to boost your existing coat of wax. A good quality wax and frequent washings will prevent any waterspotting from etching your paint, thus negating the need for monthly polishings.

I havent polish my car in over a year and aside from light swirls the paint is in very good condition.
