  • Detailer Line Questions?????????

SO I have never used anything else but Meguiar's products on my vehicles. From my first clunker to my current ones now. I use the comsumer line with some professional products. I'm in the military, GO NAVY, BEAT ARMY. The last couple of years I have been deployed a lot but I like to keep up with the new products that Meguiar's comes out with. I like the NXT line a lot but in reading through the threads I want to try the detailer line so here are my questions:

    1. I use NXT car wash, what is the main difference in the two detailer line ones?

    2. Paint care - D15101 - Would I use this prior to polish and after clay? What would this product most closely resemble?

    3. I always clay after washing ALWAYS!!! I see that there are two other clays that I can get besides the consumer line one. What would I use those for? Mild or Agressive?

    4. Telling what kind of paint I have? I have a 2010 Jeep Wrangler and a 2006 Dodge Caravan. How do I know if it is soft or hard or single stage or what ever other kinds are out there?

    5. NXT Glass cleaner is the current one I use. I hear that the Detailer line glass cleaner is much better. What do you all think?

Most important I will only use products that are safe for clear coats!! I have a PC 7425 but it sounds like the new Meguiar's DA (v2) is far better. Anyone out there ever use both and have a preferance?

    Thanks for the knowledge,

    Dave

Technically, there are three D-line washes. But the Super Soap doesn't show up in Meg's estore because it's only available through certain high volume dealers.

But anyway, Hyperwash is really concentrated. You mix it 400:1 so it goes a lot farther and costs much less per wash.

Super Soap costs bit less per gallon.

Shampoo Plus is very slick and I feel it rinses cleanest.

They all work really well and are all very gentle so it really comes down to personal preference. Shampoo Plus is my fave.

    2. Paint care - D15101 - Would I use this prior to polish and after clay? What would this product most closely resemble?
Yes. It's sort of like Cleaner/Wax or ColorX on steroids.

    3. I always clay after washing ALWAYS!!! I see that there are two other clays that I can get besides the consumer line one. What would I use those for? Mild or Agressive?
The blue Mild clay is slightly more aggressive than the white consumer clay. Since you clay regularly (good man ) my guess is you probably wouldn't notice a significant difference between them.

The red aggressive clay is waaaay more aggressive. It'll remove stubborn gunk much faster. But it can also leave slight hazing in the paint and is only meant be used when you know you'll be power buffing the finish anyway.

    4. Telling what kind of paint I have? I have a 2010 Jeep Wrangler and a 2006 Dodge Caravan. How do I know if it is soft or hard or single stage or what ever other kinds are out there?
If it takes a lot of work with more aggressive products to remove defects, it's hard.

You'll get color transfer to your applicator pad when using a product with some cutting action (like SwirlX, ScratchX, Cleaner/Wax, etc) if it's single stage.

    5. NXT Glass cleaner is the current one I use. I hear that the Detailer line glass cleaner is much better. What do you all think?
I haven't really noticed if one works better than the other (never tried them side-by-side on the same piece of glass) but both work very well. D-Line glass cleaner is waaaaaay cheaper since you buy it concentrated in bulk.

Most important I will only use products that are safe for clear coats!! I have a PC 7425 but it sounds like the new Meguiar's DA (v2) is far better. Anyone out there ever use both and have a preferance?
The PC is still a good machine. I wouldn't bother switching.

    pc.

Do you apply a wax/sealant after ALWAYS claying after every wash? Do you think clay removes surface contaminants and leaves wax/sealant on the paint?
