  • Film after #21

Yesterday I washed, clayed, used PRC and then topped with #21 2.0. This morning I went over the car with Ultimate Quik Detailer, and then the car sat out in the sun for most of the day. This afternoon I noticed there was a "film" on the car, almost like the heat and sun deteriorated the #21 and caused it to haze over. If I wipe it with my finger it clears and pretty much goes away, and going over it with a microfiber does the same. Anyone seen anything like this? It was about 93 and pretty humid here today.

    Thanks.

I have used #21 quite a bit. Never encountered this.

I'm thinking you never fully wiped all the excess wax off. I suggest you go over it again with a fresh microfiber. Fold it in quarters and use a fresh quarter for each panel.

All of the excess was fully removed, and furthermore, the car was gone over with UQD. I have since wiped the car down again, and again the film has returned a few hours later. Quite strange!

Sounds either like you applied the sealant too thick or you did not allow it to dry properly or both. A quick detailing buff may not fix this for you but a good wash probably will.

I'm pretty sure what you are experiencing is due to the humidity. This happens sometimes with 21 when you either apply it too thick or apply it when it is humid out. It will leave behind a residue/oiliness on the car, which may not be noticeable after first removing 21 (you can see it if you look in the direct sunlight), but after a day or so, you may start noticing it.

Try washing your car again to see if it takes care of it.

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

            I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.

I'd say it's the humidity because i've used it multiple times in the past with excellent results. It was spread on very thin using a DA and let to dry for almost an hour, all done inside my garage. Guess the mid 90's and 65 dewpoint was too much for it!

              Thanks

                +1 for the humidity theory.

I've had the same thing happen with NXT 2.0 followed by LT. The next time I washed it fixed the problem.

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.
