  • How to apply M07

This might sound like a no-brainer, but how do you PROPERLY (sparingly) apply M07 to get optimal result? Also, my car is new, and the paint is in good condition (just light swirls), will my BLACK paint benefit from M07? Here are my steps:

    1. Wash - Ultimate Wash & Wax
    2. Prep - Mothers California Clay w/ Last Touch as lube
    2. Clean - Ultimate Compound followed by Swirlx
    3. Polish - SHOW CAR GLAZE (M07)
    4. Wax - NXT TechWax 2.0
    5. Maintain - Last Touch (full strength)

I mean, have any tried M07 on a new car (in a pretty good condition), and actually enhanced the look? Thanks, guys!

I'm not sure how M07 works on clear coat, I've only used it on single stage paint. I like to apply it with a PC to get an even thin coat. AND WOW does it do wonders for single stage!

On clear coat, it wont do as much, but being black you may still see a difference.

Just as a thought, WnW is a bit pricey to use and then detail over it would seem?

As far as applying it.... yeah, keep it thin, and wipe off. Can be best to kind of do a 'rough' wipe to get most, and then come back and wipe for the rest.

That's true, UW&W is a bit expensive just before completely paint detail. I will just use my GC or DC car washes.

So, it's true that you can use M07 on top of TechWax 2.0 because it's non-abrasive?

you can use it on top of NXT but why? the polish will only last a couple days at best, its better to apply it PRIOR to waxing/sealing to seal IN the M07

Yes, I have tried #7 on a black car in very good condition. While I think I saw a difference after the application of #7, I honestly cannot say that this difference was preserved after the application of the wax, at least in my eyes. Your mileage may vary. There's only one way to find out. Give it a try and let us know what you see.

I actually discovered and joined this forum primarily to learn a better technique for M07, a product I've been using for 35 years without figuring out an easy method. My first few hours were spent using the search function reading nearly every post in the archives that referred to M07. Here's what I've learned so far: While restoring weathered single-stage paints works well using terrycloth or microfiber, a foam pad is easier when the finish is already in good shape. "Prime" the pad first by working a small but evenly distributed amount of M07 into the pad. Start spreading the material using light, even pressure. Pay close attention to the "drag" of the pad on the body. A properly loaded pad will glide smoothly over the body. Too much material will cause the pad to drag as the material cakes up on the finish. Once it seems the material is nearly exhausted, work more into the pad. Just a few drops per panel should be all you need to add. Immediately after finishing a panel, wipe it off with a microfiber cloth. I like to smoothly wipe across a panel in one direction to catch the majority of the material, then finish removing the remainder in a direction perpendicular to the first. Treat it like it's $100 a bottle and you want each bottle to last forever, not like the weekend waxers who slop the stuff on and have to frantically rub their *** off to get all the excess cleared.
With regard to its effect on modern paints, I agree that the difference is not as pronounced as it is with single stage paint. However one of my BC/CC cars is a medium red metallic, and I definitely see the color "pop" more when I use M07 before my LSP. As other posters have said, it should make a difference on black BC/CC paint, but you'll have to find that out for yourself.

                  BillyJack,

Thanks for that insightful paragraph. I like what M07 does for my finish, especially thinking about the oils keeping clear coat "youthful". However I have found M07 a little difficult. (Used it a whopping twice) Thanks for giving us your process.

                    Good write up Bill!

BillyJack is right on! I don't think I've read a better explanation on 'Sevens' application by hand.

I did a side by side but of course no pictures cause I was lazy and wanted to be done...

I noticed maybe a sliiiiight difference right after applying it to half but after I waxed both panels, it was hard to see anything different.

One more thing, do I apply M07 with the yellow pad or the black pad via g110v2?

                          Re: How to apply M07

You would apply it with the black since you are trying to create the highest gloss possible without instilling any swirls. The black pad is the softest pad offered by Meguiars and should be used with M07.

In certain cases, you could use M07 with a W8*** pad to really work the product into the paint.
