Wheel Brightener

Hi,
I had a question about the Wheel brightener in the detailer line, would that product be considered safe to use on these factory wheels in this picture?

I assume they are coated Aluminum.

I have used wheel brightener on those kind of wheels before with no problems. Be sure you mix it corectly and you will be fine. Wheel brightener is one of my favorite products. Works well and very easy.

Those wheels are painted aluminum with a clearcoat finish. The factory stock polished aluminum wheels on the GP are also clearcoated.

Nobody else seems to use it, but I'll just suggest it and you don't have to follow my suggestion. If you are worried about it being safe or being gentle, but you need a little more cleaning than car wash can provide, I'd suggest you try a bottle of #36 Hi-Tech Wheel Cleaner. It's really really gentle, pH balanced, and non-toxic.

It's the only thing that touches these wheels (well, the only wheel cleaner):

I'll second that. #36 is very good and is safe to use on all wheels.

Nice car, if they still made the GP's like that I would get one (the 4 door). Aurora, I think that's the first time I've seen a pic of your whole car! Nice shine! It looks different than I expected, I was thinking of the older Aurora's.

I agree, I like the styling on the '97-'03 GPs better than the '04s. It must be that "bug eye" look on the 04s. I had a '96 before I went to the TAs and it was a pretty good car, it was a GTP with the screamer 24V DOHC.

actually I was using Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner with no problem, but I am going to be detailing cars for other people now and wanted to get something to use in the detailer line or Professional line.

Has Anyone used both 36 and Wheel brightener? What are your throughts between the two?

Hey Tom,

I only use the Wheel Brightener. The stuff is incredible!! I just spray it on, agitate the wheels lightly and then hose off! I have used it on some very dirty wheels (road grime, brake dust etc) and it easily cleans them!!!

35 minutes has been shaved off my MINI cleaning time. I can make my white wheels go from caked on dark gray to BRIGHT white in 2 minutes a wheel.

I got it online from a vendor that sells through amazon.com That way I help both Meguiar's and there vender network.

I know this is an old thread, but I was doing a search on "wheel cleaners" and decided to look it over.

Are we talking about the newer Wheel Brightner, or the older detailer line product (D-3101)? I have a gallon of the D-3101, and am planning to use it more often, now that my Gold Class wheel cleaner is gone. I'll have to use a respirator with it, since it tends to bother my wind just a little.

The instructions say not to use WB on anodized, or uncoated aluminum. My problem is that I'm not a wheel expert when it comes to identifying the different types of wheels now-a-days.

I can identify chrome and stainless steel trim ok, but what does anodized, or uncoated aluminum wheels look like?

I saw the car with coated wheels at the top of the thread, so that helps me there.

Also, it would seem that WB would be strong enough to take off tire dressing too......So I would presume that if a person uses this product, then they are going to have to clean & dress the tires too?
