  • APC or APC+?

I am wanting to order some cleaner to use and saw that there is apc and apc+. Which one should I get? I want to use it to clean tires, wheel wells and some interior stuff.

I bought the APC+ and diluted it 2 different ways:

10:1 for interior work, carpets, upholstery, vinyl

4:1 for tires, engine bay, and wheel wells

Seems to work great and I haven't had any problems yet.

I like APC+ - its supposed to be slightly stronger than APC and foams less than APC.

Buy a sample of each, they can both be used in different ways. I LOVE using APC with a foaming sprayer on tires and wheel wells, while on interiors, I like doing the carpets with APC+ and wiping down panels and plastic with APC+ as well.

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

        I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
        Remove swirls my friends.

For exterior use, go with the APC. On interiors especially the carpets, I like using Apc+.

So really buy the sample of each and see what works best for you.

I'm with him. I only had APC+ before but I didn't like how it doesn't foam when I clean my tires and wheel wells. I bought APC recently and I love using this for all exterior surfaces. I keep using my APC+ for interior work only.

                Re: APC or APC+?

Sounds like I am in the minority here. I use the green APC diluted 10:1 for the interior only. I like the foaming action that I get when cleaning interior panels, leather, etc. I've used the orange APC+ diluted 10:1 on the interior and I just didn't care for it as much. I use the orange APC+ diluted 4:1 on the exterior to pre-treat lower panels and clean tires and wheel wells.

Here are the descriptions to both according to ADS:

                APC
Meguiar's All Purpose Cleaner is ideal for reconditioning all interior surfaces. The superior foaming action gently lifts the dirt away while its unique blend of fabric softeners and optical brighteners enhance the look and feel of carpet, upholstery, vinyl and even leather.

                APC+
This all surface cleaner is ideally suited for today's fast paced, high volume, detail operations where one simple solution is needed for a variety of cleaning needs. It provides mixtures for heavy cleaning of engines and tires, fast interior cleaning, as well as low foam ratio for use in carpet and upholstery extraction machines. Leaves carpet clean, smelling pleasant, and the fibers soft with no sticky residue. Safe for clear plastic, glass and leather.

I ended up ordering the APC. I want it mostly to clean wheel wells and exterior stuff. Can it be used to clean wheels as well? I have been using Hot rims but it get expensive at almost $7 a bottle.

It could be used to clean wheels but I won't use it all the time. It makes the clear coat dull after a while because it has harsh chemicals. I would use car soap to wash the wheels.

I generally use car soap to wash the wheels and tires (unless they are especially grungy). With regular maintenance, though, washing the wheels should be fairly easy. Keeping up with it is definitely the key.

IMO I will still get both. Having Chemicals is not a bad thing. I just need to get a bunch of spray bottles!

Totally agree! Every chemical / product has it's unique purpose. I'd like to have them all - one bottle at a time...
