  • can I use APC on a boat?

    Hey Guys,
Curious to know if anyone has used APC on the interior of a boat before (hard vinyl/plastic and seats)... i did a vehicle this weekend and then owner asked me if i could get to the inside of SeaRay that is dirty from pollen tree sap and probably just dirty ... any do's and dont's?
I plan on using Last Touch as well on the outside ... I wonder if UQW or 205 on the gelcoat would look like ????

what would be a good dressing for the vinyl seats from the ProLine?
    WBD-HD-Leather Cond- SS Natural Shine?

i know im going to get razzed about mixing the product lines but its too late to get an order in from ADS

    Thanks!

APC or APC+ works fabulous on a boats vinyl interior. Just be shure to mix the ratios accordingly.....not to sure of the dressings you mentioned, al though #M40 would work well...

If it is just a wash, Last Touch will make it look a notch better that just the wash. If you need to do any hard water spot removal, be sure to have some M4716 after the wash, but before the Last Touch.

If you plan on taking it up a step, be sure you do the following

    Wash
    Water spot removal (M4716)
    Last Touch
    Polish (M205)
Wax or Seal (Flagship Marine Wax)

This will give you some awesome results!

      One more thing....

I keep my boat in my Garage in AZ where the temp can reach about 120-130 inside. The best suggestion to preserve the vinyl and the boat is fill up two 12 gallon rubbermaid containers with water. Place one in front and one in back of the boat on the ground. The heat created in the garage will wick or consume the water in the containers and this will help preserve the elements of your boat. Vinyl and rubber will stay soft and supple vs getting old, hard, deteriorate and crack.

Nothing wrong with mixing lines.... all the cool kids are doing it....

Dressing seats could be tough though, as you could make them slick, and get residue if the product was greasy.

I really think the Ultimate Protectant may be best. ASD has good durability, but may be greasy. M40 may also be a bit greasy, but not a bad option.

For dressing vinyl seats on a boat you could use M57 from the Marine/RV line. I would also wipe excess product off the seats as good as you can.

It will work, but I will caution you that APC and APC+ are both VERY slippery when added to water. I find that surfaces that have leftover APC on them are extremely slick, so be sure to thoroughly rinse the APC away, especially in walkways.
