  • Problem with D151 PRC.

    hi guys,

I recently bought a gallon of d151, w8207 2.0soft buff foam polishing pad, w6814 backing plate,x-2010 supreme mf towel n dewalt 849 rotary to start detailing my car. Before i started i prime the pad wit 't' on the pad like in the training video in youtube. Then I set the speed of the rotary to 1400rpm for first cuting with 2 passes left right n up down moderate motion on a 18"x18" surface n finished it wit 1000rpm wit slow moving on the rotary. After buffing, i found out the paint has a lot of hologram marks. What is the causes of all those holograms.?
Btw, Iam still a newbie n learn from reading MOL before
decided to purhased a 'detailing package' for myself.. haha...

    Is it because of experience.?

Experience and product knowledge are important to achieve the desired results/outcome during detailing.

Do not give up. It won't take long for you to be good in whatever you like doing. Just learn/do the correct way

        okay, thanks.
Any hints for a newbie like me.? I try to level it flat on the car surface, but I only can see it from the top and not sure whether is flat or not. Or i need someone to help me out to check whether is flat or not.?

Did you mist your pad with QD before you started? If not, that's your problem.

That's a common problem when using a rotary, many people will follow up with a DA for the final polish.

Do you have a DA polisher?

It's down to technique - keep your pad flat throughout the process. You'll know your pad is flat because when you slacken your grip right off, the polisher will not stitter about. At the end of a set with the speed down low, relieve the pressure of the polisher by holding it underneath so that the pad is not at all compressed by the weight.

More practice - you'll get it. Showing off, I can get hologram-free on single stage black with 3M Fast Cut Plus on a cutting pad with a single speed 1800 RPM polisher! Under high sun, too! Technique. Keep practicing.

perhaps you didn't keep your pad clean? or working too long for finishing? SMAT liquid buffing really picky for clean pad especially on finishing stage. If problem still persist perhaps M205 or #80 could help you.
