  • bad batch of #23 Odor Eliminator?

order came in last week of odor eliminator last week and i finally tried it out this weekend around 5pm finished vaccuming and detailing then called it a day ... low and behold i open the car up to go to church the next morning and my kids ask me if i had been drinking beer! LOLOLOLOL
i immediately knew it was the 23 as i could smell the alcohol in the product but will it always smell like this???
i am not joking when i say it smelled like beer!
Has anyone seen this or smelt this?

    thanks

Did you leave the windows cracked open or did you leave the car completely shut up? Seems to me as though I recall some people mentioning that the old Odor Eliminator (the consumer version) smelled like beer. I think #23 is the same thing as the old consumer Odor Eliminator if I'm not mistaken. I suspect that is why they made the new version smell like Mandarin/Cedarwood. I wasn't that fond of the smell of the old version. The new version is much better. I would either leave the windows open for a while, or sprinkle some baking soda on the carpets, leave it for a while, then come back later and vacuum it up. See if that helps alleviate the problem at all.

yeah i did leave the doors open for about 2hours or so then closed it up for the night, this must be the older version which leads me to a rant with suppliers who sell the older products ..... i wish i would have done more research on the "new" version but i guess i trusted my three letter supplier to have the "new" stuff for its customers.

Yeah, the older Consumer Odor Eliminator definately needed a little airing out after use.

If #23 is the same, then just air it out. I am not sure I have heard of #23 being updated?

i know that beer smell that your talking about..my friend actually asked the same thing after using odor eliminator..its just the smell of the product, basically, dont really use it unless you really have an odor to eliminate..just for regular maintanence and keeping things clean, i usually just use some febreeze to get a nice smell in the cabin.

Perfectly Normal. Let the car air out and it should be completely gone in 2-3 days max. I have a gallon of 23 and it happens on every customers car I use it on (I make sure to warn them ahead of time!)

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

            I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
            Remove swirls my friends.

Definitely a product were you have to air out the vehicle. You also have to give your customers a warning.

Let your vehicle air out for a couple of days and you will be fine.

older version?? i guess i should have done more homework when i ordered from ADS as i thought they always stocked the "newest" stuff ... kinda bummed about the whole airing out thing as it kinda defeats the purpose .... next thing you know my cars will smell like the outside (pollutants-bbq-pollen) .. anyone tried anything else other than Megs? i'd like to be married to Megs and there products but if it dont work it dont work.

I don't think the newer version is available in the gallon jugs (at least not yet). Only in the consumer size bottles (16oz or so).

I have some of the old version and I use it quite often in my Volvo, works well...but does kinda smell beer like...but I like beer, so no real complaints...until I get pulled over and my car smells like beer, but was only M23.
