  • what exterior dressing do you use?

    Hey Guys,

looking for some recommendations for exterior dressing my buds on MOL use .... i have HD and WBD and i just picked up the $4 Natural Shine Protectant special at WallyMart this weekend just to try it out BUT my problem is that after it is applied on the hard black plastic mirrors/running boards/mudflaps/window trim/roof rack that if/when it gets wet it runs onto the paint!
does Megs make a product that wont run like this but still give some good gloss?
    maybe a solvent based dressing?
    what do you guys use?

    thanks fellas

I use All Season Dressing, and Ultimate Protectant also looks like a good option.

I apply, let sit for 5-10 minutes, then wipe off with a dry cloth. Some plastics still run no matter what, but it stops it for most.

I use HD 4:1 on my wheel wells in my truck. I use Gold Class Vinyl/Rubber or Supreme Shine on my door handles, mirrors, bumper trim etc. I like all of these dressings and HD sure keeps my wells looking good for a long time, unless it rains.

I usually use All Season Dressing. The last time I used Ultimate Protectorant. So far I am impressed with the durability of the UP. Either one is a good choice.

The only dressing I've used that hasn't run in the rain is BlackWOW. Meguiar's Ultimate Protectant seems to be pretty close to that, so that's what I'd go for.

I've been using Hyper Dressing, but it just doesn't last. I'll be picking up some All Season Dressing my next order and keep the HD for the engine bay.

i think i will need to try the Ultimate Protection but from the looks of it - it does appear to be a waterbased solution as well and think i might be back in the same boat...

i wonder if one of the Mikes can chime in with some commentary from a chemist or the like about water based protectants vs solvent type ..... Mike?

ideally i think if a product that was made that dried hard, wasnt water soluble (as to avoid smudging/running onto the paint) we would have a winner!

Call me lazy but i am just trying to avoid buying every product Megs has :P
