As Michael replied, you dont need to put anything under (or over) #21, it will bond to a clean surface just fine. But note that you might need to REMOVE any contamination or dealer applied wax to get that clean well-prepared surface. My recent brand new car looked fine, but running your hand over the paint clearly felt the bumpy surface and a light claybar preparation returned it to smooth-as-glass (and removed any dealer wax as well). A paint-cleaner wont really remove those small bumps effectively, you need to clay (if you have them).

You can wash+clay and then also (optionallly) apply a glaze (DC2 or M07) to maximize the wet-look, especially on dark or red cars. The #21 will go fine on either the clean surface or the glaze (the glaze is not needed to make #21 stick better, but also wont interfer and some folks like me thing it gives a slightly better look).

As many folks say, a great finish comes from great preparation, the wax is just the final protection to keep it that way.

Actually, cleaner wax was referenced in this thread, in which I quoted in my pervious post, which is why I asked the question.

      I shoulda typed M06, not M83.

If you don't want to answer the question, thats fine

Nope, not trying to dodge a question, just sort of overlooked it - assuming your referring to ....
Wouldn't a glaze be redundant over a cleaner wax, as I think the polishing oils in the glaze would have a hard time penetrating the wax in the cleaner wax (M83) and coat the finish with the oils in the glaze.
While it's not the ideal way to use a pure polish (glaze) it can be done, especially considering that the wax isn't going to fill in all the fine pores of the paint anyway. Remember, too, that a glaze doesn't really "bond" to the paint like a wax does, and will wash away fairly quickly if not covered with a wax or sealant. But if you want to do some light cleaning with a cleaner wax, then add gloss with a pure polish and then finish off with a non-cleaning wax or sealant - go for it. Is it 100% the optimum way to go about this? No, but if the process yields the level of correction and gloss you're after, then it's not a waste of time either.

Thank you for your interesting comments. I think I will try Meguiar's Quik Clay, if necessary. So I will use the Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner as step 1 and New Car Glaze # 5 as step 2 since my car is Passion Red.
              As step 3, I use Meguiar's # 21
All this will I trump with Swissvax Shield since I love this vax.
