Pardon me if this has already been discussed or is common knowledge, but does anyone else notice a distinct similiarity between the Meguirs Mirror Glaze and the 3M 39000 Range?
M00 Hi-Tech Wash ... 3M 39000 Car Wash Soap
M01 Medium Cut Cleaner ... 3M 39001 Microfinishing Rubbing Compound
M02 Fine Cut Cleaner ... 3M 39002 Rubbing Compound Fine Cut
M03 Machine Glaze ... 3M 39003 Machine Polish
M04 Heavy Cut Cleaner ... 3M 39004 Super Duty Rubbing Compound Heavy Cut
M05 New Car Glaze
M06 Cleaner Wax ... 3M 39006 One Step Cleaner Wax
M07 Show Car Glaze ... 3M 39007 Used Car Glaze
M08 Mold Release Paste Wax ...
M09 Swirl Mark Remover ... 3M 39009 Swirl Mark Remover
M10 Clear Plastic Polish ... 3M 39010 Plastic Polish
M17 Clear Plastic Cleaner ... 3M 39017 Clear Plastic Cleaner
M19 Cleaner Paste Wax ...
... goes dry for M20 and M21 ...
M26 Hi-Tech Yellow Paste Wax ... 3M 39526 Show Car Paste Wax
... both liquid and paste available ...
M34 Final Inspection ... 3M 39034 Quick Wax
M36 Hi-Tech Wheel Cleaner ... 3M 39036 Wheel and Tyre Cleaner
... and so on ...
Is this a case of flattery on one side or the other in terms of the numbering scheme? Perhaps one makes for the other? Perhaps one reverse engineers the other?
Does anyone know for sure?
I have both 3M 39526 Show Car Paste Wax and Meguiars M26 Hi-Tech Paste Wax and while they are quite similar, I don't think they are the same. The MSDS sheet show up some differences where the data is available on both sides.
Who knows?
