  • Black Jeep with m205

So I might be doing this wrong please correct me. I got this Black Jeep in my shop and there wasn't deep scratches or faded paint so I decided I should just skip the 105. So I just used 205 with a black pad and than hand waxed it afterwords. It turned out like glass but I did notice some fine swirl marks in it still on the hood. What am I doing wrong that isn't removing those swirl marks.

M205 with a finishing pad is not a very aggressive combo. Did you use a rotary or DA?

You may need to use a yellow pad with M205 for slightly more aggressive correcting ability.

Essentially, most people use M205 with a finishing pad to "jewel" the paint after a very fine cleaning/polishing process. There's little correcting power when the M205 is used with any finishing pad.

You should examine the paint before the wax is applied. The marks may be inflicted during the wax on or off process. It will not be fair to assume the polish didn't do a good job. Sometimes, a dirty microfiber cloth to remove the polish residue already add swirl marks.

On those parts you still have some defects just mask with tape that area, use M205 with the Polishing Pad to see if you have success removing those defects and wax afterward.
