  • Hyper Dressing = UV protection

Hi guys whats going on at megs?
I question I have and seems to be other people on here does hyper dressing have any UV protection qualities in it. I know it's silicone based and needs to be mixed with water but I haven't found anything on the protection stand put on it. Please tell me that it does because I love the stuff. It's a pretty good all around dressing. I was getting tired of having so many different dressings. All though I still use Trim Detailer on the exterior trim.

    Thanks for any input,

    Chubs

    Hi Chubs,

I believe it does contain some UV protection, but not a lot. I'll double check tomorrow. Check back here tomorrow and I'll try to have some specific answers.

I would like to know too... I have been wanting to change over to one product and this seems to be a good bet. Will the UV protectors in a product help make a night and day difference down the road?

        Hi Chubs,

I've been told that Hyper Dressing does contain a light amount UV protection, but less than a product like #40 Rubber & Vinyl Cleaner/Conditioner.

        Hope this helps...

Thanks for looking into that Mike. It helps me know that there is UV protection in it even though there isn't alot.
My new question would now be how much UV protection do you need. My thinking is that were using a professional line of dressing that has qualitly UV protection in it compared to something off of the shelf at Wal Mart or Auto Zone. So my thought would be that hyper Dressing would still be better than alot of others out there. I love the fact that you can adjust the amount of shine that it has, but I also don't want my car or any customer car to have cracked dashes and door panels 5 years down the road. I know it's not likely to happen and I'm just worring to much but its just a thought.
Thanks again Mike and I'm still going to use hyper anyhow.

I think what's more important in the big picture is a maintenance plan where components like the dash are periodically cleaned, conditioned and protected with a premium quality product formulated for this task.

Modern materials used to make dashes are continually improving. I think the plastics and vinyls used today are much more resistant to cracking than they were 10, 15, or 20 years ago, and the Meguiar's insures our formulas are matched to the surface they are intended for use on.

            Hope this helps...

Maybe it is time for the major manufacturers of detailing products to get together and come up with a standard very similar to the way that sun block is numbered. The higher the number the better the UV protection.

I just put COPPERTONE on my tires. SPF100, I am ready for the "bronze" look to be in style. So far, NOTHING!
