  • M205 pad question.

I am going to get a G110 and the package is coming with

Two Meguiar's W8207 Foam Polishing Pad
    - One Meguiar's W9207 Foam Finishing Pad

I plan on using M205 with the 8207 pad to remove some water spots and swirls that I think I put in last year using ScratchX 1.0 and an orbital. Will the M205 and the 8207 polishing pad provide a swirl free finished look (given that it removes the existing swirls) or will I need to use the 9207 pad to finish?

    Black F350

I also plan on getting a small sample of M83 which I believe is the next step above M205.

Will I need to change pads during the job or can I clean enough to use one pad for the whole job? I want to make sure I order everything I need now. More than likely the truck will be broken into 2 phases, wash, clay, clean, wax the cab one day, then the same for the bed the next day. I cant even get the whole thing in the garage anyway

M205 on a polishing pad on the D.A will most likely finish out fine. I say most likely simply because you never know.

Your going to want about 5 or 6 polishing pads to buff out the whole truck, and a couple finishing pads to apply your coat of wax afterwards.

You never have enough pads. For that big of a truck, you will need more.

5 or 6 Should be plenty. You want to get Meguiar's Soft Buff 2.0 Polishing Pads and 1 or 2 Finishing Pads For Waxing.

As I am a Super Duty owner, I can tell you, get as many pads as you can. I agree with Nick above, though I would have a 5-6 Polishing and 3-4 Finishing. The Super Duty trucks are huge so be prepared for a VERY long day!

Why do you need so many pads? I've been using the same pad with 83 on a few different cars and another pad for 82....

              Re: M205 pad question.

As you work around a vehicle doing paint correction you start to load up the pad with product. While cleaning on the fly certainly helps, you can never really remove all the residue that collects, the drying product that continues to form, etc. Swapping out to a fresh pad keeps you working at a peak efficiency throughout the process.

With a strong cutting liquid this is important to maintain maximum cut, and uniform cut, over the entire vehicle. With a finishing liquid you want to ensure that you have the cleanest, most uniform final polishing you can achieve.

Obviously the larger the vehicle the more pads you'll go through. A two seat roadster won't require the same number of pads as a crew cab dually pickup truck will - all else being equal.

perhaps the more pads, the more efficient the time you get?
as you dont need to clean the pads when they are full of residue :]
and you are able to make more combos with different cleaners...

                  Re: M205 pad question.

I must be really lucky then, the four cars I've used the DA and / or buffer on I have one pad for cutting, one for polish and one for sealant.

I have a boat load of pads, one per product and my first order I went with a few samples with a pad for each.
