An aggressive clay bar can remove extremely well bonded surface contaminants and extremely heavy contamination at the risk of marring/hazing the surface; making paint correction a must.

Mild clay is similar to the clay you will find in the Smooth Surface Kit, good for use in most situations.

so it is always safer to use the mild clay or the clay in the smooth surface kit than the aggresive clay? but it is faster to use the aggresive clay right with the risk of marring/hazing?

The C2000 Mild Clay (blue) is a bit more aggressive than the clay found in our Smooth Surface Clay kit, so for really heavy and/or stubborn contaminants it can make the job go more quickly. For a well maintained car you shouldn't need it though.

The C2100 Aggressive Clay (red) is actually aggressive enough that it can haze paint and it should only be used on severely contaminated finishes where you intend to machine polish after claying.

Both are sold only as single, 200g bars without any sort of lubricant, towel, etc.

The agressive clay bar wont damage the paint like a strong compound with a rotary.

But it can still cause marring, and could require a machine to remove the marring. So unless it is really needed, you would not step up to it. Dont want to go backwards if you dont have to.

As far as faster, it is only faster if the stuff is bonded on that much/strongly. If the stuff is mild, they are both the same speed.

I agree with whats been posted, I must say my favorite of the 3 meguiars clay is the mild blue!

Here is something I go by personally but dont know if it is necessary...if I am claying and waxing with no correction I use the smooth surface clay. However, when I step up to the mild blue clay I always do paint correction and have yet to need any aggressive clay. Thats just me though, I like having things specified

Like said the aggressive clay will remove more stubborn things while leaving marring behind needing to be taken out. If you are wanting to buy a detailer line clay, I recomend the blue, I have loved it so far.

I also stepped up t the mild blue clay. I have not run across any need for the aggressive red. I wouls get the mild blue and I think it will tackle any needs you will have.

                Re: Mild/Aggressive clay bar

With the blue mild clay bar, I am achieving the same result as the Smooth Clay Kit, but with less work and less amount of time.

Also, the mild clay bar is made in Japan, I even believe it is the same as the Clay Magic Bar, which is also made in Japan.

But I don't have the two to compare side by side. I have only used them.

                  Re: Mild/Aggressive clay bar

I have both, but the aggressive clay can really do wonders on heavily contaminated surfaces compared to the Mild blue or Smooth Surface Ckay kit.

One of my customers had his fender repainted on his truck, it looked great but there was some nasty overspray on the tailgate, it was pretty thick stuff. I tried the Smooth Surface Clay Kit but it took a lot for minimal improvement. I got out the Pro Line Aggressive Clay and it took it off immediatly.

When I got the bed of my truck sprayed with LineX they left some sort of overspray on the rear taillight. The Pro Line Aggressive Clay took it right off compared to the SSCK or Pro Blue.

They both have there different purposes. But in reality all it takes is one little incident and everything can go wrong. You can clay your brand new car and the next door neighbor can be painting his house and all that overspray can land on your freshly clayed car.

I usually use the Smooth Surface Clay Kit for most of my details. I use the Pro Line Blue Clay for older cars that havent ever be kept up. And the Pro Line Red clay works perfect for those extreme makeovers.

Maybe Meguiars will soon have a liquid claybar?

One of our competitors already tried this and the enthusiast community was not amused. It only seemed to complicate an otherwise very simple process, and it was less effective with more work. That's not to say it can't be done, but don't hold your breath that Meguiar's will be releasing such a product any time soon.

I have three bottles of this liquid claybar. THEY CANNOT COMPARE TO OLD, TRADITIONAL CLAYBARS. I tried it once in my car, but it was too much work to use it, and the result you get is disappointing. I do not know what to do with them now, TW discontinued this product. Maybe use it on my bath tub, then apply Cleaner-Wax. LOL!
