  • Where is the difference in #82,#80, #9

I have much about all of these products being great and all, but how does one know which product to pick for a cleaning product?

Each seems by the bottle label description to be almost the same thing, and this confuses myself, and I am guessing other people relatively new to Meguiar's.

Is any one of them #82,#80, #9 better than another in terms of:

    1. removing swirls?
    2. removing oxidation?
    3. removing light scratches ?
    4. being an all in one polish and cleaner?
    5. seem to be a better product all around?

I am more or less leaving out #83 because The package states it is more agressive than these other products and I understand that. It is the differences between #82,#80, #9 that confuse me.
Please help clear up this confusion.

    Hey,

There are a few differences in the products you mentioned.

Firstly. Meguiar's #80 Speed Glaze is more aggressive than either the #82 or the #9. It will remove deeper marring and/or swirls than the other two. Plus, it has a healthy dose of Meguiar's TS Oils as well as a paintable polymer. This last item makes the product ideal for the body shop as you want a product to protect the paint while it cures.

Meguiar's #82 Swirl Free Polish is slightly more aggressive than the #9 Swirl Remover. The #82, as being part of the Body Shop 80 series was designed with clear coats in mind, though #9 works equally as well on BC/CC. Moreover, I find the #82 works a little better with a rotary compared to the #9, IMHO.

So, if you have mild swirls, try the #82 or the #9 first. If these do not remove the swirls, you may need to go more aggressive and use the #80.

What I have been doing now for a while is using #80, followed with #81 Hand Polish (a pure polish to further beautify the surface) and top it with 2 coats of NXT Tech Wax. The results have been stunning!

If your car's paint is in very good condition, I would substitute the #80 with either the #82 or the #9 and then complete as mentioned above.

    I hope this helps!
