  • Last Touch as Clay Lubricant?

Could Last Touch be used as a clay lubricant? Can it be diluted? If so, should it need be?

I cannot find Quik Detailer in the gallon size or at bulk discounts, but Last Touch is easily available for a very reasonable price.

Last Touch is a perfect clay lubricant. You should dilute it 1:1 with distilled water, that way there are no mineral deposits or water spots left on your car from the LT.

LT is a great clay lube just because it is so economical.

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
    Remove swirls my friends.

+2 for using the lt as a clay lube. Great stuff. I use it all the time.

Last touch is a widely used product as a clay lubricant. I also noticed it does not always have to be used with the 1:1 ratio. I like to use 4:1 when claying so it does not waste so much last touch.

Since Last Touch is extremely similar to Quik Detailer...

So in theory, Quik Detailer could also be diluted when claying?

Not necessarily. Where did you hear that it is similar to Quik Detailer?

Re: Last Touch as Clay Lubricant?

Last Touch has the highest lubricity of any Meg's detailer spray, hence it is recommended (officially) to dilute 1:1 for clay lube.

Quik Detailer is recommended to be used at full strength. Is it possible you could make it work diluted? sure, but it wasn't intended to be used that way.

Re: Last Touch as Clay Lubricant?

Even at full strength, Last Touch is still a very cheap solution as a clay lubricant. After being diluted, it is very cost effective.

I often find myself struggling at using one bottle of Quik Detailer at most on a normal sized car. And Instant Detailers of any brand even with Department Stores Discount are not cheap.

Re: Last Touch as Clay Lubricant?

Overall, Last Touch is the BEST (by far) in terms of performance and price ratio. I have used Quik Detailer, NXT Speed Detailer, Final Inspection, UQD, Final Touch, and Turtle Wax ICE.

Can I also use Last Touch to prime the pads for use with M105 or UC??

It isn't listed as an official recommendation, but I personally use it 50/50 on occasion to prime a pad.

Some people claim because of the Silicones that LT contains, they use M34 instead.

However, there are others like Mark who use it anyway and there doesn't seem to be any ill effect.

Detailers clean places nobody see. Detailer see's things nobody else see. But if you ask a Detailer to see how a dress looks on a woman, they are blind.

I'm not going to start a new thread, but does anybody know if LT contains any kind of protective qualities?

Lately I'm finding myself reaching for LT non-diluted more and more over UQD. For some reason, I feel UQD would offer more paint protection because of how it cures after 12 hours. But I prefer the glowing look that LT provides.

Last Touch does not offer protection, although I always feel a slicker feeling after using it as opposed to a simply washed surface.

I often use Last Touch for cleaning/lubrication, and then follow with a really quick UQD or UQW process.
