  • W68da / w68

Just got my W68DA and W68 here at work (with free pads from ADS) and can't wait to try them out!!!!

From the looks and messing with the pads, I am glad I was able to finally buy them for my G100. I didn't like the way the W67DA worked with the 2.0 pads but now I like it!

Ive been using the W67 plate with my G110 and the 2.0 pads.

Be sure to update us when you use it for the first time. On my next order to ADS I will probably end up buying the W68.

better not let wifey find them either! lol.

      Re: W68da / w68

The jury is still out for me. I've used the W68 plate a couple of times with the 2.0 pads and I am actually more comfortable using them with the W67 plate.

I will be trying the W68 plate out again this weekend on my daughters car so we'll see if I start to warm up to it.

The W68 is the more flexible backing plate?

I hear they are more for the 2.0 pads.

Yes, they are better suited to the new 2.0 pads. I will be doing a write-up shortly on them. I have been using both of them and will discuss the differences etc...

              Re: W68da / w68

I agree with Tim. The foam pads have quite a bit of cushion and need a very supportive backing plate. The wool pads, on the other hand, need a bit of cushion.

The difference between using a small backing plate and a large plate is pretty big. An easy way to tell is to try both plates on a dark colored, single stage paint surface. You can actually see that the smaller backing plate is not supporting the entire pad because the area of used paint in the pad is directly proportionate to the size of the plate.

I know that was a bit wordy, so here are some pics to help explain it:

You can see that the entire pad is not being used.

And that the packing plate is the same size as the area with the most support.

Just to add, the W68 and W68DA have different internal structures.

It's designed for the 2.0 pads and it fits quite nicely and seems to be pretty durable!

Always look forward to your writeups Tim....

On a side note, haven't been able to try them out yet, but I know I will like them as the W67DA just didn't feel right for me. Now the question is will the G100 be too light of a machine to use with the slightly bigger pad?????

I'll keep ya posted, but don't hold your breath as I am working a ton of overtime seen as we laid off 5 people in our department, trying to save money eh? LOL!!! I'm topped out with longevity, so......I make on overtime what it would pay two part timers straight pay! Yep, saving money alright!!!

So, I may be looking at the end of the month before I get a decent start on using the backing plates!

I plan on buying the Solo Backing plate (W66 if memory serves) and add it to my growing arsenal

Hmm.. have to figure out which backing plate I have, I am sure it is the oldest one for the original G100, 1.0 pads.
