  • help applying #16 by hand

Hi Everyone I just waxed my car this weekend with NXT 2 coats 12 hours apart.

I plan to now coat #16 as my lsp before winter kicks in.

I plan to apply it by hand and any suggestions is appreciated.

I read in a different post to use the foam applicator and swirl it around to get the wax. But any advice on cure time, how Much pressure should I apply, etc, etc.

    Thanks

Use a foam wax applicator pad to apply the wax.

Hold the foam pad in your hand, grasping it between your thumb and four fingers. Briskly spin the foam pad on the top of the wax with the foam pad. This will liquefy the wax into a thin liquid that will seep into your foam pad. Then apply the wax to your car's paint. Apply a thin coat, working the wax in well like you are applying skin lotion to your face.

Make sure you apply a thin coat, thick coats are difficult to remove.

Allow the wax to dry to a haze, this should be 1- to 20 minutes in average temperatures. Remove with a soft, 100% cotton towel or microfiber polishing cloth. Make your final wipe with a microfiber polishing cloth.

    Hope this helps...

Is it safe if I make it cure for more than an hour... or will it be harder to remove?

        Hey,

I would recommend removing the #16 as soon as it is ready. Leaving it on too long can make it VERY difficult to remove (as in rock hard!).

Break your vehicle down into three or four sections. You can apply to one entire side and by the time your done you'll just about be ready to start removing from the beginning of that side. Do this with the other side, then repeat with the hood roof and trunk. I find that #16 does not need alot of time to dry.

#16 is such a great wax.

i remember using #16 years ago, and it being difficult to remove, however it was hot out, and not 100% sure, but i could of been in the sun. but i know a little better now. acually i just ordered some, can't wait to try it out.

if #16 comes off cleanly (no smearing) with your finger, does this mean it's ready to wipe off?

                Hey,

Essentially, that is the swipe test so often referred to on MOL. If after swiping your finger across the surface, the residue comes off easily without smearing, it is ready to be removed.

                Cheers!

#16 works best for me when I apply it a section or two at a time and then remove the excess, using two MFs. One for to remove the excess and the second to go back over a few minutes later to make sure I didn't miss anything.

                  BTW, I <3 #16:
