I have been wondering if either #80 or #82 can be used by hand or are they really machine use only? I do realize that the best results will be with machine use. Just curious if these products are similar to #9 in as much as able to be used by hand or machine? I do not have a pc and was wondering if I should just stick with #9 or if it would be worthwhile to try the other two? Thanks for your help.

I have used both 80 and 83 by hand on my wife's car. I did the WHOLE car by hand with both products and while it does take a bit of work and sweat, it is possible. Technique is the key. Folding your *terry* towel properly and working the product. The results are still stunning to this day. The car was finished with Tech Wax and a coat of 16.Quadruple Honda Owner

It looks like I can easily find #82 and #83 and #9 (#9 I already have) locally and would have to order #80 if I want it (and the one that I am most interested in trying right now, go figure). Anyway I was wondering if any one has used both #9 and #82 and is thier much of a differance between the two? If not, I might be better off just ordering the #80.
Also what is the proper technique for applying these products by hand, ie foam vs terry cloth, how long to work the product etc? Thanks for all the help.Don't take life too seriously, no one gets out alive.

Hey,
Meguiar's #9 Swirl Remover and #82 Swirl Free Polish are very similar. Meg's #82 is slightly more aggressive than the #9 and works a little better with the rotary buffer, IMHO.
If I were you, I would buy the #83, #80 and #81 Hand Polish. That way, you can use your #9 and still top it with a pure polish.
As for technique by hand, I would use a clean foam applicator for each of the products (do not mix products on the same pad). For #83, you will need to work the product in VERY thoroughly until only a slight dust/residue remains. By hand, this WILL take some time! Remove residue with a MF towel.
As for #80, work the product in thoroughly, but give it a little more time to set up before removing the residue. In other words, perhaps complete 2 sections and then come back and wipe it off.
Meguiar's #9 needs to be worked in, but should be removed while still damp.
In all cases, use a clean applicator and clean towels for each step.
I hope this helps!
