APC or APC+ for general use?

I finally found someone who has the line of products that's not too far away, so I have a couple of questions...

Is APC or APC+ the best one to use for general cleaning, wheel wells, interiors, carpets, floor mats and such?

I understand the + is a lower-foaming but want to check before making a purchase of course.

They are both excellent all around cleaners and are both in my regular line up.



That being said, a dedicated product for each area will usually work a little better. Such as using an actual carpet cleaner for cleaning carpets or cleaners made to tackle things like blood, vomit, urine, and coffee...or even a wheel cleaner for cleaning wheels. But, APC & ACP+ do all of the things very well and I have never had a need for so many dedicated cleaners. They are more expensive and who wants to grab 10 bottles when you can use only 2 and still get the job done?

APC+ is a more versatile all purpose cleaner if you want to just get one start with this product, later you can always add the APC to your arsenal.

I'd like to ask what additionally you find the APC+ works well for, I know for carpets and mats, things like that.. I understand that it might not work as well as the wheel brightener or super degreaser (other 2 items I was thinking about).

You mention 2 products, meaning APC and the +? Is there something that the APC does better over the + version?

Just trying to learn here..

I think I'd like to get some of the + and probably the super degreaser to start off with.

Does the super degreaser work as a tar and bug removal medium also, or is there an item that is better suited? I currently just use tar/bug aerosol cans for that sort of thing, but it does get a bit pricey.

Interesting that you feel the APC+ is the more versatile product.
I have APC because I felt it was closer to the original APC+ from a few years back. In fact, I think it was the replacement for the original APC+.

When the new APC+ came out, I thought the main difference was the low foaming which made it better for use on extractors.
Since I don't use an extractor, would there still be a benefit to me to switch from APC to APC+ when I need more?
Almost all my use is at a 10:1 dilution and I use it for hand scrubbing carpeted mats the most. I occasionally use it on vinyl, but that about covers my need for an all purpose cleaner.

Addendum: The fabric softeners and brighteners were also if interest to me, but I think they are present in both products.

Here is how I use them for the most part...

APC for interior vinyl, some leather, door jambs, some wheels.

ACP+ for carpets, matts, tires, engines

I've not tried Super Degreaser yet.

Not sure if APC+ is safe for leather, or at least as safe for leather as APC....Mike can you comment on this?

I use both for general cleaning, usually whichever is nearest my hand when I reach for a APC product.

I don't do a lot of interior detailing and don't own an extractor, so I talked to Jason Rose about both of these products and he basically said that between the two, the APC+ is a better product and interestingly enough the suggested retail prices is less than the APC

There's a lot really smart and talented people here at Meguiar's and we all work together as a team, that way one person doesn't have to be the expert on all products. That's what's nice about the forum, our members can ask questions about anything and on some topics and some products, with a little work behind the scenes we can get you the information and post it to the appropriate thread.

I currently use APC with the foaming head sprayer, mainly for tires and wheelwells. (Floormats, carpets, etc on occaision).

But I like how it foams, and stays in place, and then I can come back easily with my brush, and it hanst run down/off the surface as much.

Would APC+ with the foaming head sprayer foam at all, or is APC+ much better to the point I shouldnt worry about it?

Since I found a dealer that has it all in stock, I'm picking up some APC+, the G110 and maybe some wheelbrightener or degreaser. Nice prices, the G110 comes with 2 softbuff 2.0 yellows and a black for 164.95. No mail order though, just direct sales apparently.

Thanks for the tips and yes I'm wanting to condense down the number of items I have. We have 5 cars between all of us, 3 06+ and 2 late 90's so I can put my skills to work on just ours and a couple of friends and be happy.

the apc+ is a great product. But I like them both. For general use it is the apc. When I am doing carpeted surfaces, I reach for the apc+.

Believe it or not, the foaming action of an All Purpose Cleaner, (ours or any other product in this industry), is actually important as people use the foaming action to see where they've worked when working by hand to clean carpets and other fabric components.

Not sure how much APC+ will foam with a foaming sprayer or how long the foam/bubbles will last.
