These are factory clearcoated rims. This looks like a style that is several years old. The wheel brightener is safe for this type of wheel. One thing to keep in mind is that the Wheel Brightener was designed for cleaning dirty wheels in a detail enviroment. If this wheel is as clean as the photo and does not accumulate much dirt or brake dust you may want to consider a couple options. Dilute the product to the highest level recommeded, use it for about 15 seconds instead of the recommended 45.
Also, clean and rinse ONE wheel at a time, as is the case with any wheel cleaner. The center cap should be safe with this product. Because it is plastic I would not spray directly onto the center cap area.
And of course all the normal wheel cleaning instructions, wheel must cool to the touch, I always rinse my wheels first regardless, when rinising use a heavy stream of water so you rinse off all the wheel cleaner from the surface.
You know the routine..

My detail environment is my garage. I understand that this product may also stain the concrete so I am planning on having some plywood or thick cardboard under the wheels if I use this product.
Yes they are the factory rims. I checked around other MB forums too to make sure. I think the little hub cap is made of plastic though (can't remember). If so then they have to be removed before using WB right?
If you car is an E class (E320, E420 or E300 diesel), 1995 model year Mercedes eight hole wheels are polished aluminum and clear coated.
