Re: M40 for leather ?
One thing I learned early on from Mike P. here on MOL: one can use a leather cleaner/conditioner on vinyl, but one must never use a vinyl cleaner/conditioner on leather.Swirls hide in the black molecular depths, only waiting for the right time to emerge and destroy your sanity.

Re: M40 for leather ?
Leather has osme sort of protective coating on it like a car has a clearcoat. A vinyl cleaner such as M39 or M40 would damage the leathers protective coating
I hope i said that rightNick

Just to add...
First, Meguiar's always recommends matching the correct product to the surface being treated. "It's the right thing to do"
That' said, it's okay to use Meguiar's leather products to clean and dress vinyl but it's not recommended to use Meguiar's vinyl product to clean and dress leather.
What's nice about being able to use our leather products on vinyl is that most leather seats in cars, trucks and s.u.v.s, only the face of the seat is actual leather and the sides are vinyl. With our leather products you can treat the entire seat with one product.
If you want to match the right product to the right surface you could use our leather products for the face of the seat and then use our vinyl products for the sides and backs of the seats but now you're using 2 products, you don't always know where the leather ends and the vinyl begins and even if you're careful you risk getting the vinyl product onto the leather surface do to the proximity of the two materials.

Mike, you are describing the seats on my S2000 to the tee. I know where the leather is but I don't know where it stops, so I use Meg's leather/cleaner conditioner on the entire seat.Swirls hide in the black molecular depths, only waiting for the right time to emerge and destroy your sanity.

Re: M40 for leather ?
One thing I hate is that leather cleaners really seem oily. I tried it on some vinyl headrests once, and now I still see smudges 6 months later from it, and I placed my hand on the seat with some of the leather cleaner on my hand, and the seat still has the spot months later too. It must be good stuff, to stay on so long.
I just always almost stay away from cleaners inside the car besides quick detailer because especially with my dark interiors, it's hard to keep it off something you don't want it on. Like AC vents, then you have to try to do all the levers or something. It's tricky and a challenge.
