  • Friend Wrecked Evo need tips.

Alright ill give a little background, state a process and you help me revise it if you can.

My friend took his 2006 evo VIII MR down a back road he had not driven on before to take a friend home. he came around a turn (its raining heavily) and there was a dog walking up the road. swerve left, swerve right, front end loses traction(due to faulty tire) car spins twice and heads into a 4 foot deep ditch.
At this point the car is laying literally on its side in a muddy ditch. my friend and his two passengers get up and climb out the passenger side door which is now "the top" of the car" they walk on the door panels and get to safe not muddy ground and await a towtruck and police.
    .... intermission ....
cars oil has drained out the intake manifold and intake so its towed to a shop. we get the car back, its washed, cleaned a little bit, soaked with oil, mud and other goodies.
but the car is PERFECT. there are 3 dings on the drivers side and NUMEROUS brush scratches (varying depths) some took paint.

we take the car back to his place (it drives fine)
    then the work starts.
we put the side skirt back on, re-adjusted the drivers side fender, and hood alignment

    process:

Wash, pressure wash first with warm water
wash, with GC soap and grit guards
    air dry
wash again with GC and grit guards
clay the entire car with white clay and UQD (all we had)
i marked off all deeper scratches and taped the car
started with a medium cut cleaner (i forget the megs #) using my G110
work down to fine cut cleaner (#2?) for less obvious scratches
then i went over the whole car with speed glaze (3 passes over each panel-took forever)
finished up with 2 passes of swirl free polish
    coated 2X with NXT 2.0 and #26

the car looks amazing for what happend to it. we cleaned up the interior using various stain removers, lots of APC and some leather conditioner. i polished the carbon fiber accents on the interior with speed glaze

some scratches are still there, i ordered 83 and 84 to deal with them.
any tips for those two products? i have not used either before.
all work was done with a G110. i WILL HAVE PICTURES when i go back to his place to finish the car with 83 and 84 or whenever sunlight permits.
i wish we would have taken pictures of before we washed it. all i have are a few pictures of the area, and the damage to the car.
most likely it will not be reported to insurance because we "fixed everything" and mitsubishi has given the car a 100% checkup. no mechanical damage. imagine that.

also, touchup paint and wet sanding. im fairly new to wet sanding but i want to try it out on the tiny spots which need filled in along the door.

all in all, the car looks better now (paint wise) than before the accident.

sorry for being long winded i just wanted to get the whole story. if i left anything out or you need more info i will try to fill in. as for the scratches, many were removed entirely with the above process but there are a few deeper ones which i believe will buff out (they pass a fingernail test barely)

he was amazed at what i can do with 10 hours and some help from him and his girlfriend.

Did anyone take any before pictures?

It's the before pictures that make the after pictures powerful.

i have pictures of the scene where it was wrecked, the car when being picked up from the tow shop(after cleaning the oil out of the motor)- still dirty

i was not at the accident scene and at 3am there was no light for pictures

as far as injuries. i forgot to mention, nobody was injured. everybody got out safely, sore the next day but thats it.

scene of the accident. ditch where car was pulled from

you can see tire marks in the ground.

the fries were from mc donalds (just before the accident, car was laying on its side, all the junk in it was against the drivers side of the car, though its kept relatively clean all the time)

AFTER EIGHT HOURS OF WORK tried to get a few shots

work lights and wheels. this was after most buffing. may have some wax on the sides i cant remember. this is the bad side.

Hyper dressing diluted 4:1 APC on carpets and plastics speed glaze on carbon fiber trim

            another shot.

moving backward. me gettin ready with the pressure washer (its 19 degrees out at this time hence the gloves, etc.

we got all of the cars in this shot, the evo, his girls RSX, her friends accord, and my cavalier. not bad.

finding lots of mud in the fender wells and wheel backs

and more mud and grasses in the front bumper

            first wash.

            wheel brightener

before the crash, heres the car. he has owned it for approximately one month. 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII MR - bone stock, nothing modified.

            enjoy!

more pictures to come when i get back to finishing the car...

tips for 83 and 84 appreciated

glad to hear everyone was alright, sounds like a heck of an accident.

A while back a friend and I went for a spin (literally) in her wrangler, 1.5 spins, and backed it hard into a ditch, when we pulled it out, there was not one single ding or scratch anywhere, I still dont know how that happened.
