    Re: About #105 and D151

I use D151 a lot more than I do M105. But it all depends on the condition of the car and how much time you have.

M105 is a compound, need to follow up with polishes like M80.
D151 is AIO product which contain cleaner, polishes & wax.

Actually you should be able to finish off M105 with D151 depending on pad choice. D151 on a foam finishing pad finishes off very nice.

What pad will you be starting with?

M205 would be a better product to finish off with, but D151 should work well too.

What do you want to achieve from your work? If the car hasn't been detailed for so long, especially you live in Indonesia, I think you need #105 and you can finish it with #80 or you can wait until #205 available in Indonesia. But if you want to do routine maintenance for your car I think d151 will be wise option.

M105 is an aggressive cutting compound for removing serious paint defects
M205 is a finishing polish for use after M105 to work the finish up to a clear, swirl-free high gloss.

D151 is a one-step, all-in-one cleaner/wax. It's nothing like either of the two above products.

If you want a show car finish on car that's been neglected for years then you here's a proven formula...

M105 with a wool cutting pad on a rotary buffer at about 1500 RPM
M205 with a foam polishing pad on a rotary buffer at about 1500 RPM
Wax or Paint Sealant of your choice usually applied by hand or with a DA Polisher or an Orbital Buffer.

Read this thread for why not to apply a finishing wax with a rotary buffer.

Applying Tech Wax 2.0 or M21 with a rotary buffer?

                  I
Yes, it works very well too. Personal preference.

I used to use mostly foam cutting pads and avoided wool pads unless removing wet-sanding marks out of a wet-sand, cut and buff job, but with M105 and a wool cutting pad you can remove defects very quickly and work the finish up to about 90% of a show car finish so the other 10% is easily done with M205

Personal preference but both wool and foam cutting pads work great with M105

Yes it will work. Usually if you're using a heavy cutting compound like M105 it's because you're trying to remove serious paint defects and if this is the case you would usually use an aggressive pad, either wool or foam.

But the answer is yes, you can use M105 with a foam polishing pad like our W-8006, W-8000 and W-8207
