  • M83 on chrome in a pinch...

This past weekend I detailed a car with some slightly discolored/oxidized (not sure of the correct technical term) chrome wheels. I didn't realize they looked as bad as they did and I don't have any metal polish cuz money is tight for me. However the customer was saying how she knew they looked kinda bad after last winter, so I decided to try some M83 by hand to polish them up, and it worked great!!

Unfortunately I don't have the pics on my computer right now (I may post them in a couple days when I have more time), but I thought the wheels came out almost as well as they could have with a metal polish. I just thought I'd share my tip of using M83 to polish metal. I'm sure metal polishes are still better formulated for the job, but it worked for me in my situation. Has anyone else used other polishes on metal with success?

    Good job!

I've used #80 with fantastic results on chrome before.

If the wheels were OEM, they were most likely clear coated and M83 being a paint cleaner/polish, it did a good job of cleaning/polishing.
FWIW Not having a metal polish might have been a good thing for you. A metal polish very possibly could have been the wrong product to use.
