  • Solvent based dressing

I saw on ADS that there is a Detailer Line Solvent Based Dressing.
Any details on this product as there is very limited info.
Sorry if I am posting it in the wrong section.

I don't know specifics (may help to list what specifics you want, since well, they are specific), but I do know this stuff works great everywhere dressing can be used and a little generally goes a long way.

Very interested in this product as well. I read what ADS says about it and it sure sounds like it will be yet another great tire shine product to add to the list!

          Chris,
Maybe you could go to Ky. and bootleg it into Indiana

I am curious as to why you cannot get it if you live in certain states.

Well, it does look an awful lot like "All Seasons Dressing", although ASD doesn't really dry, where as the Solvent based dressing claims it has a Fast Flash formula that dries quickly. I'd be intrested to know if they were much different in a looks or durability standpoint.

This maybe off topic but in a round about way, the Water Based Dressing seems a lot like Hyper Dressing. I use HD quite a bit, but have always wondered if the WBD was much different other than the dilution ratio's?

We'll move this to our Professional Line forum.

Hot Topics is in the "Information Station" and it's not for posting questions to, it's a section we generally "move" posts to if the topic is hot or in other words it comes up often.

                Thanks!

                  Re: Solvent based dressing

WHAT!?!?!? Can't get it in CA anymore? Guess it's a good thing my gallon will probably last years.

Then again, it just says "for sale" in those states...

States are implementing laws regarding VOC's and the 1st wave of changes occurred in 2005 (VOC's are volatile organic compunds). There have been more changes and there will even be more in the future. It isn't necessarily a bad thing, but if you are used to a high VOC product, and then use a low VOC product you will notice a slight change in some aspects of the product depending on what that product is.

Keep in mind, each state is different, so we recommend checking with all your state laws to ensure you are meeting the regulations.

As far as the products go, All Season Dressing and Solvent Based Dressing are both a "solvent based" dressings and are designed to be high shine and used on the exterior of the car. You will get a slight difference in flash time and gloss with the VOC complaint formula (All Season Dressing) compared to the non VOC compliant (Solvent Based Dressing).

Water Based Dressing is a very traditonal water based dressing that detailers are familiar with,as in a basic 2:1 dilution rate. Most detailers are looking for this ration because it is the "norm". Hyper Dressing, on the other hand, is step out of most peoples comfort factor because it can be diluted up to 4:1 and some people juist don't want to go against the grain of a normal 2:1 dressing

                    Hope this makes sense.

                      Re: Solvent based dressing

Will the VOC compliant dressings have any added durability, or is it mostly just an application/looks difference?
