  • M80 to LSP

After polishing with #80, thoroughly cleaned panel with a MF.
then went directly to #21 Sealant. Problem was after about 20 minutes
when doing the wipe test, the panel was still oily.

Is is proper technique to clean off the panel with 50/50 or APC+ diluted before going to any LSP to get rid off the oils left behind from #80?
because it seemed to me like the wax/sealant wasn't hazing at all over direct application.

    I haven't used the #21, but I have used quite a bit of #80.
I have always gone directly to my LSP without any wipe down or paint cleaner between the #80 and the LSP and have never had a problem.
The usual LSP after the #80 has been both the original NXT and NXT 2.0. although I have also used Collinite #845 Insulator Wax and S100 Carnauba over the #80 with no problems.
Too much #21? With most LSPs if you can see it on the paint, that's plenty and maybe even more than needed. For me, LSPs work best with as thin a coat as I can apply.
Maybe you didn't get all the #80 residue removed. One MF might not be enough. After a wipe or two you could be spreading the #80 right back on the paint.

I've never experienced any problems use noted. #80 always leaves a great finish that is LSP ready. Reading what you wrote, it seems like your experiencing the oily feel after #21. How did the surface look and feel after you used #80?

Did the wax swipe away dry when you tested it?

If not, then it wasnt fully dry, and needed to sit longer.

The normal procedure is to remove whatever your last step correction product is off the surface and then apply your choice of wax.

Allow the wax to fully dry and then wipe it off.

It's important apply a thin coat of wax and let it fully dry before wiping off.
