  • D151 vs #83

    Hello!

Can someone tell me the difference between these products?

    Has D151 more cut?

    Thanks.

    Re: D151 vs #83

The main difference is D151 is an all-in-one product. It will polish and protect as well as remove your swirl marks. I haven't used it on the same paint as #83 so I can't say for sure how the cut compares. I will say that D151 has a good amount of cut. In reading what others have written it seems to be close to #83, some say less, some say more. It's also a different abrasive technology so it's going to work differently.

I've been very impressed with D151.

        Correct.

When you work the D151 you leave it to dry to a haze like you would with wax, then remove. With #83 you work it then remove right away before it drys. The #83 will leave your surface clean with no wax. Hope that helps.

Just to add a little more...

Meguiar's makes products for body shops to work on fresh paint, so sometimes when people start getting into detailing can sometimes get confused by our product selection because if you didn't understand that for fresh paint you don't want a wax or paint sealant in the product.

Thus some products in our Professional Line are specifically made for work on fresh paint but they are very popular with enthusiasts working on cured paint.

Also just to note, the M83 is in a category Meguiar's established in the refinishing industry called, "Cleaner/Polishes", while D151 is in a common category for our industry in general called "Cleaner/Waxes"

          Make sense?

That is such a true statement. At the beginning it just seems so overwhelming.
