  • Apply multiple coats of carnuba wax?

    Hi all,

I am on a posting frenzy here today hahahaha. Now I just got off the phone with my cousin and she is excited that she got her new car today. She also told me that she went to her local autozone store and bought some auto maintenance materials and one of them is the Meg's #26 carnuba wax and I told her that she made a good choice to buy that wax.

Now, she ask me on the phone if She can apply multiple layers of #26? Now, I told her that I usually apply one coat and I told her I will get back to her on this question.

Would it be ok for her to apply one coat after another on her car using #26? Or do she have to wait 1hr, 3hrs, and so on before she applies another coat? Please let me know, this woman can't stop jumping up and down lololol.

    The recomended thing would be:

    1. Wash
    2. Prep as needed
    3. Wax - Apply wax in a thin coat, let dry, remove.
    4. Try to wait at least a few minutes...
    5. Wax - Apply wax in a thin coat, let dry, remove.

Why dont you encourage her to join up here....

Yes, two coats of wax are recomended, no matter if it is a carnuba blend like #26 or all synthetic like Nxt.

Make sure to tell her 2 THIN coats. Make sure the first coat is totally dry before removing. Tell her about the swipe test. Have her join up here, and she can become car crazy like us.

If its a brand new car, Id suggest telling her to buy the smooth surface clay kit. Then she could:

            Wash
            Clay
            Wax....remove wax
            Wax again.
If its fast, loud, and runs on a flammable liquid...count me in.

                Just to chime in...

The surface of your car's paint will only hold so much wax, whether the wax product contains Carnauba or if you're applying some kind of paint sealant.

Once a uniform coating is established, adding more and more coats won't make a thicker and thicker layer.

one or two well applied coats of any kind of paint protection product is really all you want to do in any single detailing session, after that it's time to stand back and admire the shine or go drive the car.
