  • Alex, What is......correct dilution

Hate to beat a dead horse.....

On the old forum, there was a great handy dilution thread that had pictures and what not.

After doing searches, I believe I have down what the correct dilutions are (after all it says on the bottle. LOL)

After reviewing this picture, I did my own calculations, 32oz's is up to the first ring on the neck of the bottle. It's less obviously on the ring just above the label.

Which is correct to dilute the product, were talking an ounce or two between the two which can make a product like the glass cleaner be stronger or not.

I hijacked this picture to point out the differences. I did not label the ring above the label but the first ring on the neck is 32oz's. We are basing the dilution on 32 oz bottle right? Just want to be sure as I am using the Detailer Line more exclusively than the consumer stuff as it lasts longer.

    Thanks

    Nappers -

It seems to me you're probably spot on with this one. It never made sense to me how little glass cleaner we were putting in, under the lower line.

    I'll go with yours! Thanks.

I just measured the bottle with a 6" pair of calipers. It is 6" from the bottom of the bottle to top line (the one the pencil is pointing to). From that line to the 4:1 mark is 1.2" and that works out to be a 4:1 Ratio.

      5 X 1.2 = 6" or 4 parts water is 4.8" and 1 part concentrate is 1.2" = 6"

That is kind of a quick and dirty way of verifying the ratio, but I'm not a mathematician.

Just as an aside, I received my APC sprayer bottles from ADS Thursday and mixed up a couple sprayers at what I thought was 4:1 and 10:1 ratio. I figured I was supposed to fill to the top where you have 32oz marked. So now I don't know what ratio I have mixed.

Aaron, you are correct, the first line (dimple, bump, etc.) is the top of the 32oz. All dilutions should be based off that.

In that old thread that was started but never finished, it was said that they should be filled to the lower ring??? I didn't think that was right...

Ok, so curiosity got the cat. I measured my 1:1 spray bottle of Last Touch and the 1:1 mark is exactly half way (3") between the bottom of the bottle and seam which the pencil is pointing to. I would assume (dangerous ) that the dilution graduations on my other bottles are referenced to the same seam.

Ive been diluting until that seam(pencil in nappers pic) since I started using the professional line.

I have been diluting to Aarons 32 oz. mark. I could of sworn that was the correct way of doing it. Oh well, I guess its just up to the seam from now on. Thanks Aaron for bringing this up.

I'll re-create the dilution thread from the old forum on Monday.

                        Re: Alex, What is......correct dilution

I did double check, 32oz's is to the lower ring on the neck where I indicated. I assume that the dilution rates are for 32oz.

We wait patiently for your thread Mike

I just want to be sure, I plan on using old gallon jugs (from the detailer line as I get them) to pre-mix products once we figure out where to fill the bottle.

I'm going with the higher mark, I mean would that little extra really hurt anything, just make it stronger.

I don't know why the bottle doesn't explain better.
