  • New to the pro line

I picked up some 80, 83, 105 and 7 to try out. I'm just wondering how these compare to the consumer line products I already have. In the past I've done the following by hand:

Deep Crystal Cleaner (ScratchX if needed)
    Deep Crystal Polish
    NXT1

I have a PC 7424 now (haven't used it yet) and LC pads. From what I've read I'm thinking that the pro line stuff would go like this:

83 or 105 (depending on the correction needed) - Orange or White pads
    80 - White pads
    7 - Black pads
NXT1 (I'm interested to try NXT2.0, but I still have plenty of NXT1 left) - Red pads

Are the pro line and commercial product equivalent, for instance would DC Cleaner be equal to 83 or something like that? Or do they fit in between each other? Since I have both now, I'm just wondering if they can work together, or if I need to use them separately. Thanks.

    Hey Dave,

Not real familiar with the LC pads. The #83 and #80 should be used with a polishing pad like Meguiars 8006 or 8207 which are the new machine washable pads. Not to mention that you can now use the new 7207 for more serious defect removal with the DA polisher. Show car Glaze IMO would be applied an 8207 since it is a pure polish and isn't used for removal of defects.
M105 is not recommended by Meguiars for use with a DA polisher but is for rotary or use by hand. Some have used it with the DA with varying results. The NXT is still a great wax. You can use pro line and consumer line together, but DC1 cleaner wax is no where near #83 as M83 uses Meguiars diminishing abrasive technology. Just make sure you are using 1 pad per product.

    Hope that helps a little.

Yeah DC1 is a significantly milder cleaner, but you can still use it obviously. I thought perhaps when I step up like you, when there isn't any correction needed, I might use something like DC1, just for cleaning.

Thanks Andy, that makes sense. I'll have to see how the pads you listed compare to the LC's, but here's a quick breakdown on the LC pads (from what I've read):

        Orange - light cutting
        White - polishing
        Gray/Black - finishing
        Red - ultrasoft for wax/sealant

The LC white compares pretty close to the Meguiar's polishing pads W8###'s in my experience anyway.
